Meowth (Japanese: ニャース Nyāsu, officially Nyarth) is a member of a Team Rocket trio, together with Jessie and James. He is voiced by 犬山イヌコ Inuko Inuyama in the original, and Madeline Blaustein in English.
Once, Meowth lived on the streets. In order to impress a female Meowth named Meowzie, he learned how to speak human language. She rejected him and Meowth went on to join Team Rocket, where he proceeded to butter up Giovanni.

He has also, since late Johto, had frequent fantasies about presenting Giovanni with various Pokémon. These fantasies often involve whatever creature it happens to be assisting the Boss in his daily routine. Some examples include running a blow dryer (Elekid) and cracking walnuts (Trapinch).
