A move of huge appeal, but using it prevents the user from taking further contest moves.

Memento (Japanese: おきみやげ Memento) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Memento causes the user to faint and in return lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each.

The user will not faint if Memento fails, such as when blocked by Protect or Substitute or if it has no target. However, the user will faint even if the target does not have its stats lowered, such as if the target has the Ability Clear Body or is protected by Mist.

Memento can also be used as part of a Contest Spectaculars combination, with the user gaining extra three appeal points if any of the moves Block, Mean Look or Spider Web was used in the prior turn.

If powered up by a Darkinium Z into Z-Memento, the Pokémon sent out to replace the user has its HP fully restored. Due to a glitch, this effect is not applied in version 1.0 of Sun and Moon.
