Effect
Effect
Memento causes the user to faint and in return lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each. The user will not faint if Memento fails, such as when blocked by Protect or Substitute, but will faint even if the target does not have its stats lowered, such as if the target has the Ability Clear Body or is protected by Mist.
Generation III
Memento causes the user to faint and in return lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each.

Memento bypasses accuracy checks to always hit<!--even though the status screen says 100-->, even if the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move.

The user will always faint if it is blocked by a protection moves. The user will also faint even if Memento fails (such as if it is blocked by substitute) or if it is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due to Clear Body or Mist), but the user will not faint if Memento is unable to affect the target's stats due to both stats already being at -6.

Generation IV onward
Memento no longer bypasses accuracy checks, and has an accuracy of 100.

The user will not faint if Memento fails (such as if it has no target or is blocked by substitute), if the target is immune (such as due to being Dark and Memento's priority is boosted by the user's Prankster in Generation VII onward), or if it is blocked by a protection moves. However, the user will faint even if Memento is unable to affect the target's stats (such as due to Clear Body or if both stats are already at -6).

Memento can also be used as part of a Contest Spectacular combination, with the user gaining an extra three appeal points if any of the moves Block, Mean Look or Spider Web was used in the prior turn.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon
If powered up by a Darkinium Z into Z-Memento, if a Pokémon is switched in to replace the user the same turn, that Pokémon has its HP fully restored (even if Z-Memento was not used successfully after gaining its Z-Power effect). Due to a glitch, this effect is not applied in version 1.0 of Sun and Moon.
The user sharply lowers Attack and Special Attack for all opposing Pokémon in the room, then the user warps to a different location in the floor and is left with 1 Hit Points instead of fainting.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
Memento targets all enemies in the room and reduces their Attack and Sp. Atk. The move then cuts the user's HP to 1 and randomly warps the user to somewhere else on the floor (if possible). In the Rescue Team and Explorers series, the Attack and Sp. Atk ae cut to ¼ of the original value, with this reduction being separate from stat stages. This characteristic is shared with Aurora Beam and Charm. The reduction can be applied multiple times, up to 1/128.

From Gates to Infinity onward, Memento reduces the Attack and Sp. Atk stat by two stages instead.

Memento (Japanese: おきみやげ Memento) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Generation III

Memento causes the user to faint and in return lowers the Attack and Special Attack stat of the target by two stages each.

Memento bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, even if the target is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move.

The user will always faint if it is blocked by a protection move.

The user will not faint if Memento fails (such as if it has no target or is blocked by substitute), if the target is immune (such as due to being Dark-type and Memento's priority is boosted by the user's Prankster in Generation VII onward), or if it is blocked by a protection move.
