Megaree (Japanese: メガぴょん Megapyon), known as Mega in Chuang Yi's translations, is one of the Pokémon owned by Crystal in the Pokémon Adventures manga. Megaree debuted as a Chikorita in Murkrow Row as a cameo. He officially debuted in Three Cheers for Chikorita.

Megaree first appeared as a Chikorita in Murkrow Row, and was left on his own after Silver stole Silver and Gold took Cyndaquil. He wanted to go on adventures with a Trainer. However, Crystal had no plans of adding new Pokémon to her team, and in Three Cheers for Chikorita he ran away from the lab to convince her. He soon finds her on 30 and is grabbed by a Victreebel as a shield against Crystal's Archy. Crystal then tells Chumee to use Mean Look and captures them both. Crystal then tells Chikorita that she is going to send both of them to Professor Oak. Chikorita shows discontent from this and signals he wants to join her. Crystal decides to test Chikorita by having him battle Monlee. Chikorita uses Razor Leaf and is shocked when Monlee punches the leaves away. Monlee then uses Mega Punch and breaks the ground. Chikorita manages to stay there while the ground starts to give way. When it stops, Crystal smiles and tells Chikorita that no Pokémon had ever taken Monlee's Mega Punch in the face before. She tells him that he has mega watts of courage and names him Megaree, adding him to her team. Since all of Crystal's team members have a star theme, Chumee gave him her star pendant.
Megaree first appeared in Murkrow Row. He was originally a Chikorita owned by Professor Elm alongside a Cyndaquil and a Silver. After Cyndaquil and Totodile were taken by Gold and Silver, respectively, Chikorita was left alone in Professor Elm's laboratory.

In Three Cheers for Chikorita, Chikorita learns about Crystal, a Trainer who specializes in capturing Pokémon. Professor Elm initially intended to give Chikorita to Crystal, but she already had a full team and had no intention off adding any more permanent team members. Upon learning this, Chikorita gets angry and runs away to find Crystal.

He finds Crystal attempting to capture a wild Victreebel on 30. Just as Crystal attempts to attack the Victreebel with her Archy, Chikorita steps in the way, forcing Crystal to stop the attack. Victreebel takes this opportunity to use Chikorita as a shield, preventing Crystal from attacking. After having Smoochum prevent Victreebel from escaping with Mean Look, Crystal captures both Chikorita and Victreebel. Crystal attempts to transfer Chikorita over to Professor Oak, but Chikorita stops her and reveals he wishes to join her team. Crystal, believing Chikorita to be took weak to join on what would be a dangerous journey to capture Pokémon, refuses to let it join her team. When Chikorita still chooses to join her, Crystal sends out Monlee to battle against it. Monlee easily blocks Chikorita's attacks and even shatters the ground in front of Chikorita with a Mega Punch. Despite being outmatched, Chikorita stands its ground and refuses to run away. Impressed by its bravery, Crystal allows Chikorita to join her team and names it "Megaree". As Megaree would take its spot on Crystal's team, Chumee gave Megaree its star pendant so that it would match the rest of Crystal's Pokémon.

In Lively Larvitar, Megaree was used to battle a wild Larvitar that was responsible for Archy's eye injury in the past. Although Larvitar proved to be a powerful opponent, it was eventually defeated when Megaree evolved into a Bayleef, allowing Crystal to capture it.

In Lively Larvitar, Megaree battled against the Larvitar that injured Archy in the past. Megaree instantly jumped into the battle after Archy was defeated out of rage from what Larvitar did and tackles it. Larvitar quickly gains the advantage, but is knocked out and captured once Megaree evolved into Bayleef.

In Lively Lugia II, Megaree fights against a wild Lugia and meets back up with Exbo and Croconaw. After a tiring battle with Lugia the three starters evolve into their final form due to the stress of the battle and the encouragement of the others. Gold then attempts to capture Lugia, but it escapes.
In Lively Lugia II, Megaree is happily reunited with Exbo and Totodile, who have since evolved into Quilava and Croconaw, respectively. Together, the three fend off a wild Lugia at the Whirl Islands. When Lugia attempts to crush them under its weight, Megaree, Exbo, and Croconaw work together to hold Lugia up. The strain of this causes Megaree, Exbo, and Croconaw to evolve into Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr, respectively. Thought they succeed in saving their Trainers, Lugia eventually escapes.

Megaree (Japanese: メガぴょん Megapyon), known as Mega in Chuang Yi's translations, is a Meganium that Crystal owns in Pokémon Adventures and her seventh overall. Crystal received him from Professor Elm. As of With a Little Help From Hitmonchan, he is level 80 and him Characteristic is "very patient."

History

Gold, Silver & Crystal arc

Megaree first appeared in Murkrow Row. He was originally a Chikorita owned by Professor Elm alongside a Cyndaquil and a Totodile.

He finds Crystal attempting to capture a wild Victreebel on Route 30. Just as Crystal attempts to attack the Victreebel with her Archy, Chikorita steps in the way, forcing Crystal to stop the attack. Victreebel takes this opportunity to use Chikorita as a shield, preventing Crystal from attacking. After having Chumee prevent Victreebel from escaping with Mean Look, Crystal captures both Chikorita and Victreebel.

In The Last Battle XIV, Megaree is used alongside the other starters to try and stop the Masked Man's attempt to capture Celebi.

Emerald arc

Crystal and Megaree

In The Final Battle VIII, Megaree was used to destroy Guile Hideout's fake Kyogre monster. Having learned Frenzy Plant from Ultima, Megaree teamed up with Red's Saur and Emerald's Sceptile to unleash a triple Frenzy Plant at the fake Kyogre. Together, along with a triple Blast Burn, a triple Hydro Cannon, and a triple Volt Tackle from the other starters, the fake Kyogre is ultimately destroyed.

HeartGold & SoulSilver arc

In All About Arceus V, Megaree, Exbo, and Silver's Feraligatr are used to attack the incomplete forms of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina created by Arceus. Through a combination of the ultimate attacks, the three Legendary Pokémon are stopped, though this only delays their completion.

Personality and characteristics

Megaree is a very brave Pokémon and is described by Crystal as someone with "mega watts of courage". He wastes no time jumping into difficult battles and refuses to give up. Megaree also has a strong sense of justice and hates seeing the strong prey off of the weak.
