Template:Infobox town Mauville City (Japanese: キンセツシティ Kinsetsu City) is located in central Hoenn, and a hub for travelers throughout the region. Its motto is "The Bright and Shiny City of Fun!" The roads of the town stretch north to Route 111, west to Route 117 and Verdanturf Town, east to a beach on Route 118, and south to Route 110. Because of the central location, all sorts of people travel through the town. Wattson is the Gym Leader and founder of Mauville. He originally had plans to do a complete overhaul of the town, but abandoned them. He specializes in Electric-type Pokémon.

Rydel's Cycle

A bike shop is located in Mauville City which is called Rydel's Cycles. It is very conveniently located for the owner and customers alike, as the Seaside Cycling Road runs on Route 110, just to the south. Rydel sells Acro Bikes and Mach Bikes. However, he will give the player a bike for free after he finds out that the player have come all the way from Littleroot Town with just running shoes. The player may exchange their bike with the owner for the other bike.

Mauville Game Corner

The Mauville Game Corner also draws tourists in. At the Game Corner, people can gamble coins on slots or roulette. This game corner houses two roulette wheels and sixteen slot machines. A Coin Case is needed to play at the game corner, which can also be found in one of the houses at Mauville City, in exchange for Harbour Mail.

The Storyteller

Inside the Pokémon Center, sits a man calling himself The Storyteller who, in his own words "tells tales of legendary trainers". He tells the player about records they have set as well as those set with other players they have mixed records with. When approached by the player, he will offer them choices of the records they would like to hear about as well as add a comment about it.

The Save-Happy Trainer

The Storyteller states the number of times that the player has saved the game, he then comments that one will never find a more cautious Trainer than them

The Cut-Frenzy Trainer

The Storyteller states the number of times that the player has used Cut, he then comments that they are a Trainer who just must love to cut.

The Move-Loving Trainer

The Storyteller states the number of times the player has moved their secret base, he then comments thathey are a Trainer who loves to move houses often.

The Cable Car-Loving Trainer

the Storytller states the number of times the Trainer rode the Cable Car to Mt. Chimney, he then comments that they must be a busy Trainer who's up and down all the time.

Name origin

Mauville's name comes from mauve, a purple-pink color, as well as "ville", a common ending to names of villages.

  • Mauville City is the hometown of League Champion, Tyson.
  • Mauville has part of a straight line of free path can be ridden on that breeders use when hatching eggs.
  • "Mauville" is actually the French name of Violet City.
  • Mauville City is very much a mix between Celadon City, Fuchsia City and Vermilion City from the Kanto region and Goldenrod City of the Johto region. Mauville has a game corner, underground passages, bike shop, connects to a bike route, is within walking distance of a Daycare, has the same or similar name/color scheme as Fuchsia City, is home to a Gym specializing in Template:Type2 Pokémon with various traps, has access to the sea or large body of water and is geographically in the center and south of the region like Celadon, Fuchsia, and Vermilion.
