In {{game2|Diamond|Pearl|Platinum}}, Lucian is the fourth member of the [[Sinnoh]] [[Elite Four]]. He is an avid reader: when the player enters his room at the {{si|Pokémon League}}, he will comment that he has just finished a book. Once the player has become the Champion, he can be found at [[Canalave Library]], but will return to the League for rematches.

Lucian made his debut in ''[[DP035|An Elite Meet and Greet!]]''.

He was first seen battling using his {{p|Girafarig}} on television, but then met {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} in a Pokémon Center and had a battle against [[Dawn's Buizel]]. Lucian sent out his {{p|Bronzong}}. Buizel's attacks didn't have much of an effect, if any, on Bronzong. Following the attack {{m|Gyro Ball}}, Bronzong used {{m|Flash Cannon}} to defeat its opponent.  

He also made a brief cameo on television in ''[[DP040|Top-Down Training!]]'' battling [[Cynthia]] and her {{TP|Cynthia|Garchomp}}. He ended up being defeated.

|desc={{p|Bronzong}} is Lucian's main Pokémon. The first time he used it was in ''[[DP035|An Elite Meet and Greet!]]'', where it battled against {{an|Dawn}}'s newly captured {{TP|Dawn|Buizel}}. Because Buizel didn't listen to Dawn, he quickly lost. Later in the same episode they had a rematch, and because Buizel was now listening to Dawn, the battle went better. However, Lucian eventually recalled Bronzong, saying that he had just wanted to prove Buizel's potential for becoming strong.

Later in ''[[DP040|Top-Down Training!]]'' Lucian used his Bronzong in his battle against [[Cynthia's Garchomp]], but the Bronze Bell Pokémon was soon [[fainting|knocked out]] by the Mach Pokémon's powerful {{m|Giga Impact}}.

Bronzong's known moves are {{m|Iron Defense}}, {{m|Gyro Ball}} and {{m|Flash Cannon}}.}}

|desc=Lucian was seen using his {{p|Girafarig}} on television in a battle against an unnamed {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s {{p|Scizor}}. It was easily able to dodge all of Scizor's {{m|Slash}} attacks and finally knock it out with a single strike despite the type-disadvantage.

Lucian, along with Bertha and Aaron, are enlisted by the [[Pokémon Association]] to decipher [[Charon]]'s notebook that was stolen by {{adv|Diamond}}'s {{DL|Diamond (Adventures)|Kit}}. Using his talents in reading books, Lucian was able to easily figure out what the books say and gives it to Diamond and {{adv|Pearl}} so they can use it to stop Charon from capturing the Legendary Pokémon of Sinnoh.

In this series, Lucian's reading skills are shown to be great enough for him to easily finish a book in only a few mere moments.

Lucian makes a brief appearance in ''[[DPA37|Gathering of the Legendary Pokémon!]]''. He, along with the other members of the Sinnoh Elite Four and Gym Leaders, head to the Galactic HQ to take on the remaining Team Galactic grunts.

* In {{2v2|Diamond|Pearl}}, Lucian is the only member of the Sinnoh Elite Four whose Pokémon are all of his specialty type.

* One of the old men on {{rt|228|Sinnoh}}, who is only found in {{2v2|Diamond|Pearl}}, may be Lucian's grandfather as he has a grandson who enjoys reading and who has a library of books on {{wp|Extrasensory perception|ESP}}.

* While Lucian's clothes are colored maroon in his official Sugimori artwork and the anime, they are colored magenta in his game sprites.

* For reasons unknown, his Diamond and Pearl sprite showed him with shorter hair than what his Sugimori artwork depicts. This was corrected in Platinum.
