Trivia

  • Lombre and its evolution family, along with Kingdra and Palkia, are the only Pokémon to have a 4× resistance to Water.
  • In its Generation III back sprite, Lombre's "hat" has a cut on its left, but in all other sprites it is located on the right.

Origin

Lombre's appearance is similar to the Japanese mythological creature known as the Kappa. Unlike Golduck, this Pokémon is more like the kappa as it has the same dish on its head filled with water that is the source of its power, just as this Pokémon uses Rain Dish to replenish itself. It also has facial features similar to the kappa, such as a turtle-like beak.

Name origin

Lombre's name could be a combination of lotus and the Spanish word for hat, sombrero. The same goes for its Japanese name Hasubrero, with 蓮 hasu meaning lotus, and its German name, Lombrero. Lombre also contains the Spanish word for man, hombre.

In other languages

  • German: Lombrero - Combination of lotus and sombrero.
  • French: Lombre
  • Korean: 로토스 Lotos
