This is a list of all key items that are found in Generation I. Please note that all of these are also part of the list of key items in Generation III due to Pokémon Red and Green being remade, and several appear in multiple generations.

Bicycle

  • Japanese: じてんしゃ Bicycle
  • Purpose: Use to move faster than walking.
  • Location: Cerulean City

Bike Voucher

  • Japanese: ひきかえけん Voucher
  • Purpose: Exchange for Bicycle.
  • Location: Vermilion City

Card Key

Dome Fossil

Gold Teeth

Good Rod

  • Japanese: いいつりざお Good Fishing Rod
  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Better than the Old Rod.
  • Location: Fuchsia City

Helix Fossil

Itemfinder

  • Japanese: ダウジングマシン Dowsing Machine
  • Purpose: Locates items hidden on the ground.
  • Location: Route 11

Lift Key

  • Japanese: ボロのつりざお Worn-out Fishing Rod
  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water.
  • Location: Vermilion City

Poké Flute

  • Japanese: ポケモンのふえ Pokémon Flute
  • Purpose: Awakens sleeping Pokémon.
  • Location: Lavender Town

Secret Key

Silph Scope

S.S. Ticket

  • Japanese: ふねのチケット Ship Ticket
  • Purpose: Allows admission to the S.S. Anne.
  • Location: Sea Cottage

Super Rod

  • Japanese: すごいつりざお Amazing Fishing Rod
  • Purpose: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. The best Rod of all.
  • Location: Route 12

Town Map

  • Japanese: タウンマップ Town Map
  • Purpose: Displays a map of Kanto.
  • Location: Pallet Town, given to the player by Daisy Oak
