This is a list of all key items that are found in Generation I. Please note that all of these are also part of the list of key items in Generation III due to Pokémon Red and Green being remade, and several appear in multiple generations.

Effect: Exchange for Bicycle.					Locations RBY Received from the chairman of the Pokémon Fan Club in Vermilion City.
Description Stad To be exchanged for a Bike at the Bike Shop in Cerulean City.

Card Key カードキー Card Key   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Opens doors in Silph Co.					Locations RBY Silph Co. 5F.
Description Stad The security card key for opening doors in a certain building.

Effect: Holds up to 9999 coins for use at the Rocket Game Corner.					Locations RBY Received from a man in Celadon City's restaurant.
Description Stad Required for playing slot machines. Up to 9,999 coins may be carried.

Dome Fossil こうらのカセキ Carapace Fossil   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Kabuto.					Locations RBY Defeat the Super Nerd on B2F of Mt. Moon. The player has a choice between either fossil or the Helix Fossil.
Description Stad A fossil of a Pokémon that lived in prehistoric times.

Effect: Safari Zone Warden's false teeth. Return them to him for HM04 (Strength).					Locations RBY Area 3 of the Safari Zone.
Description Stad Apparently lost and desperately sought by the Safari Zone Warden.

Effect: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. Better than the Old Rod.					Locations RBY Received from the Fuchsia City Fishing Guru.

Effect: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Omanyte.					Locations RBY Defeat the Super Nerd on B2F of Mt. Moon. The player has a choice between either this fossil or the Dome Fossil.
Description Stad A fossil of a Pokémon that lived in prehistoric times.

Effect: Locates items hidden on the ground.					Locations RBY Gift from Professor Oak's aide in the gate of Route 11 if the player has 30 or more Pokémon registered in his or her Pokédex.

Effect: Allows operation of the elevator in the Rocket Hideout.					Locations RBY Rocket Hideout BF4
Description Stad The key used for operating the elevator in a certain building.

Oak's Parcel おとどけもの Parcel   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Deliver to Professor Oak to receive a Pokédex.					Locations RBY Viridian City Poké Mart.
Description Stad A parcel from a Pokémon Mart for delivery to Prof. Oak.

Old Amber ひみつのコハク Secret Amber   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Take to the Pokémon Lab on Cinnabar Island to obtain a revived Aerodactyl.					Locations RBY Pewter Museum of Science Laboratory.
Description Stad The fossilized resin of a tree from prehistoric trees.

Effect: Opens the Pokédex.					Locations RBY Cheating

Effect: Awakens the player's and the opponent's sleeping Pokémon.					Locations RBY Received from the Mr. Fuji as thanks for saving him and the Pokémon Tower from Team Rocket.
Secondary effect: Awakens the sleeping Snorlax on Routes 12 and 16.
Description Stad Plays a pleasant melody that rouses Pokémon from sleep.

Effect: Unlocks the door of Cinnabar Gym.					Locations RBY Pokémon Mansion's Basement.
Description Stad The key required to enter a Pokémon Gym somewhere.

Effect: Allows the Pokémon of Pokémon Tower to be seen.					Locations RBY Rocket Hideout B4F after defeating Giovanni.
Description Stad An item that makes ghosts clearly distinguishable.

S.S. Ticket ふねのチケット Ship Ticket   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Allows admission to the S.S. Anne.					Locations RBY Sea Cottage; Received from the Bill as thanks for turning him back to normal.
Description Stad The invitation card required to board the luxury liner, S.S. Anne.

Super Rod すごいつりざお Amazing Fishing Rod   KEY ITEMS pocket					INTRODUCED IN GEN I		Cannot be bought Cannot be sold
Effect: Allows the player to fish in bodies of water. The best Rod of all.					Locations RBY Received from the Silence Bridge Fishing Guru.
Description Stad Use in front of the sea, a river, etc., to fish for Pokémon.

Effect: Displays a map of the Kanto region.					Locations RBY Pallet Town, given to the player by Daisy Oak.
Description Stad A map of the local area. It identifies your present location.
