The Bird type is a glitch type that is actually intentionally programmed into the Pokémon games. It appears in both Generation I and II, something no other glitch type does. However, it is not used in Generation II for any glitch Pokémon or moves, but still exists in the game data. It is commonly speculated to be a prototype version of the Flying type.
The Bird type (Japanese: とりタイプ Bird type) is a scrapped type in the Generation I and II games. It is commonly speculated that it was replaced by the Flying type.

It is found on two glitch Pokémon that are only in Generation I games. Both Bird-type Pokémon have two types. Both Bird-type Pokémon are in the same glitch Pokémon family, sharing a Pokédex number of 000.

Trivia
Trivia
* The Bird type is mentioned in Song of Origin, the Japanese ending for Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, along with some of the other types.
* In the English versions of FireRed and LeafGreen, the Gym guide of Vermilion Gym mistakenly refers to the Flying type as the Bird type. This is likely an oversight derived from his dialogue in the English versions of the Generation I games, where he instead refers to Flying-type Pokémon by describing them as "bird Pokémon"; in the Japanese versions of the Generation I games and FireRed and LeafGreen, he clearly mentions types and correctly identifies the Flying type as ひこうタイプ (the Bird type is とりタイプ in Japanese).
* In FireRed and LeafGreen, the Gym guide of Vermilion Gym mistakenly refers to the Flying type as the Bird type. The exact quote is "Bird/Water Pokémon match poorly against the Electric type."
* In the Pokémon anime, especially the 4Kids dub, the Flying type is often mistakenly referred to as the Bird type. It is also mentioned in Song of Origin, the Japanese ending for Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, along with a nonexistent Gas type.
* In the Pokémon anime, especially the 4Kids dub, the Flying type is often mistakenly referred to as the Bird type.
* Bird-like Pokémon have been referred to as "Bird Pokémon" at least once in almost every Pokémon canon.
* One of the possible passwords on the show Buena's Password is "Bird Pokémon", which is accompanied by phrases like "Grass Pokémon" and "Bug Pokémon".

Glitch
Glitch
The glitch type is not actually a single type, rather a large number of types which have randomly generated, glitchy names often made up of glitchy blocks rather than actual characters. As such, no Pokémon purely of one of these types can receive STAB from any attacks. It is found on four glitch Pokémon and four moves.
A glitch type is not actually the name of a type. Instead, it refers to a type with no constant name, meaning that giving it a suitable name can be difficult. It is found on six glitch Pokémon and four moves.

Revision as of 23:16, 11 April 2017

Glitch Pokémon and glitch moves often have types other than the official 18, known as glitch types. These types do not occur in natural gameplay. Most have no strengths or weaknesses. Some glitch types are exclusive to one specific glitch Pokémon.

'l) m) ZM

The 'l) m) ZM type is found on one glitch Pokémon. Functionally, it is identical to the Steel type.

Bird

If you were looking for the standard type, see Flying (type).
If you were looking for the Egg Group, see Flying (Egg Group).

The Bird type (Japanese: とりタイプ Bird type) is a scrapped type in the Generation I and II games. It is commonly speculated that it was replaced by the Flying type.

It is found on two glitch Pokémon in the Generation I games. Both of these Pokémon have two types and are in the same glitch Pokémon family, sharing a Pokédex number of 000.

Trivia

 • In the English versions of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Gym guide of Vermilion Gym mistakenly refers to the Flying type as the Bird type.
 • In the Pokémon anime, especially the 4Kids dub, the Flying type is often mistakenly referred to as the Bird type. It is also mentioned in Song of Origin, the Japanese ending for Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, along with a nonexistent Gas type.

CoolTrainer♀

The CoolTrainer♀ type is displayed most notably as the type of the move --. It is also found on TM47.

Glitch

A glitch type is not actually the name of a type. Instead, it refers to a type with no constant name, meaning that giving it a suitable name can be difficult. It is found on six glitch Pokémon and four moves.
