This is a list of Pokémon by the items they may be holding when caught from the wild.
Compoundeyes
If the Pokémon with the Compoundeyes leads the party, it makes rare items easier to find. In Pokémon Emerald and all Generation IV games, the chance of finding a Pokémon in the wild holding an item increases by 50%; in the Generation V games, the chance of finding a wild Pokémon holding an item increases from 50%/5%/1% to 60%/20%/5%.
Generation I held items
In Generation I games, there are no held items. However, Pokémon are holding an item by default when traded to a Generation II game. These items (listed under the "Gen I" header) are determined by a value in the Pokémon data structure that has no effect in Generation I and is set to that species's catch rate upon capture. Therefore, a given Pokémon's catch rate translates into the item it will be holding by default when traded to Generation II.
There are however, some catch rate values that do not directly correlate into item indicies when traded over; all of these items correspond to Teru-samas or other glitch items. To compensate for this, the given value is converted into an entirely different number when traded to Generation II.
Two exceptions to this rule take place in Pokémon Yellow. The starter Pikachu's "catch rate" value is set to 163, which gives it a Light Ball. Wild Kadabra actually have a catch rate of 100, but the "catch rate" value is set to 96 so that it may be holding a TwistedSpoon when traded over.
Items held in Generation II will be conserved when traded to Generation I and back again and will not be changed back to the Generation I item.
Because items are only set when a Pokémon is caught, evolving it does not change the held item. The "Gen I" header below contains data for held items the Pokémon would possess if it was caught in the wild without any evolution involved.
