Various manga samplers of The Electric Tale of Pikachu were included with some of the original individual releases. The first sampler, included with I Choose You! Pikachu!, was actually released before the first issue of the regular monthly issues of the manga, making it the first appearance of any Pokémon manga to English-speaking audiences.
Some videos also had lenticular trading cards included.

Revision as of 21:43, 9 January 2017
The following is a list of all English language home video releases of the first season of the Pokémon anime, Indigo League, in the United States and Canada. So far, Indigo League episodes have been released on both VHS and DVD formats, in both single releases and boxed sets.
Single releases
The Indigo League single releases were published by VIZ Media and distributed by Pioneer Entertainment (now known as Geneon).
Bonuses
Various manga samplers of The Electric Tale of Pikachu were included with some of the original individual releases. The first sampler, included with I Choose You! Pikachu!, was actually released before the first issue of the regular monthly issues of the manga, making it the first appearance of any Pokémon manga to English-speaking audiences.
Some videos also had lenticular trading cards included.
Boxed sets
VIZ Media began releasing boxed sets of Indigo League episodes in 2006, around the time of Pokémon's 10th anniversary. Altogether, the Indigo League series is collected in three boxed sets of three volumes each. VIZ Media does not currently sell volumes individually.
First edition
Volume 1: Episodes 1-26
Box number one contains volumes one through three. It was released in 2006 and its catalogue number is DPMBS1.
Volume 2: Episodes 27-52
Box number two contains volumes four through six. It was released in 2007 and its catalogue number is DPMBS1B.
Volume 3: Episodes 53-79
Box number three contains volumes seven through nine. It was released in 2008 and its catalogue number is DPMBS3B. The episode Go West Young Meowth is mistakenly listed as "Hollywood Heartbreak" on the DVD cover.
Second edition
Beginning in November 2013, VIZ Media began reissuing the Indigo League episodes once again. There are four boxed sets in total—the first three have nearly the same content as the original boxed sets released between 2006 and 2008, but with different cover artwork; the fourth is a nine-disc set containing the entire Indigo League series in one box.
The discs are identical to those released in 2008, except that this release does not include Holiday Hi-Jynx.
Volume 1
Volume 1 was released in North America on November 5, 2013.
Volume 2
Volume 2 was released in North America on October 28, 2014.
Volume 3
Volume 3 was released in North America on October 28, 2014.
The Complete Collection
Pokémon: Indigo League - The Complete Collection was released in North America on October 28, 2014.
Trivia
- On retail websites, the second North American boxset image shows Jessie's Arbok right next to her. However, on all actual boxsets it is Ekans that appears.
