Lila

Lila (Japanese: ユリ Yuri) is an anime character. Her hometown is Celestic Town, where she is also known as the "Tiger Lily of Celestic Town".

She made her main appearance in Battling The Generation Gap! It was revealed that she was once Johanna's old rival. She first appeared as a child in a flashback battling Johanna in a Contest, in which she won her fourth Ribbon.

Young Lila

She was also the first person to ever defeat Johanna in Contests. However she got the offer of studying for becoming a Pokémon Stylist abroad and decided to quit being a Coordinator after discussing it with Johanna. She started her own fashion store as well. She also designed Wallace's outfit for Contests.

After watching her rival's daughter participating in Contests, she decided to enter a Contest once more. She entered the Celestic Town Contest as did Dawn where she aimed to battle her similarly to how she battled against her mother. Both of them made it to the finals and after a hard fought battle, Dawn won the Celestic Ribbon.

After the Contest, Lila let Ash and his friends pick out outfits from her shop free of charge.

She made a brief cameo in A Grand Fight for Winning! watching the Sinnoh Grand Festival on the television in her shop.

Pokémon

This listing is of Lila's known Pokémon:

Lila's Delcatty
Delcatty
Lila's main Pokémon is a male Delcatty, having trained him since she was a young Coordinator and using him to defeat Johanna and her Glameow.

Delcatty was later used in the battle stage of the Celestic Contest where after getting through to the final rounds was pitted against Dawn's Ambipom. During the match, Delcatty was able to wear Ambipom down by putting her to sleep and also afflicting her with his Cute Charm Ability. Despite this, Dawn was able to find a way for Ambipom to defend herself while attacking at the same time. Eventually, Delcatty was hit by a barrage of Swift and was left with the least points when the time ran out. Although Delcatty was upset that he didn't earn Lila her fifth Ribbon, Lila comforted her loyal Pokémon.

Delcatty's known moves are Substitute, Sing, Iron Tail and Shock Wave, and his Ability is Cute Charm.

Trivia

  • It is confirmed that Lila's Delcatty is a male because in its battle with Dawn's Ambipom, its Cute Charm Ability went into effect on Ambipom, who is female. Also, Brock later stated that Delcatty was in fact male. This is one of the few instances that a character of the day's Pokémon has its gender confirmed.
  • Her title of "Tiger Lily" may have come from her Pokémon: Delcatty, based on a feline, could refer to a tiger; and Cherrim, based on a plant, could refer to a lily.
