Landorus (Japanese: ランドロス Landlos) is a dual-type Ground/Flying legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V. He is the master of the kami trio.

Landorus is not known to evolve into or from any Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Landorus is an orange, muscular, vaguely ogre or genie-like Pokémon. He has three small orange horns, orange ears, yellow eyes and a white mustache. His muscular arms are spotted with darker orange, and his navel also has a spot of orange. His chest is colored pink and he has five fingers. He has a trailing cloud for a lower body, and his long, curling, brown, branch-like tail is adorned with various flat, orange protrusions.

Gender differences

Landorus is a male-only species with no female counterpart.

Special abilities

Landorus is considered the god of fields, due to helping crops grow. His tail causes the soil to gain nutrition.

Behavior

Habitat

Landorus seems to live above the skies. Sometimes it stops on the Abundant Shrine in the Unova region, but only when Tornadus and Thundurus are in the same place.

Trivia

  • Landorus has the highest Special Attack of all Ground-type Pokémon.
  • Landorus has a few traits shared with Rayquaza:
    • They are apparent masters of their own trio.
    • They are both weak to Ice-type.
      • In addition they both have a double weakness to this type.
    • They have a higher base stat total than the other members of their respective trios.
    • They are both Flying-type legendary Pokémon.
    • In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Rayquaza will only appear if both Groudon and Kyogre caught in Embedded Tower are in the same HeartGold or SoulSilver game. Likewise, Landorus will only appear if both Tornadus and Thundurus are in the same Black or White game.
  • Landorus is one of four Pokémon immune to one of its own types without the aid of an ability. He shares this trait with Gligar, Gliscor and Stunfisk.
  • Despite being Flying-type, Landorus does not learn any Flying-type moves by level up. The only Flying-type move he can learn is Fly, via HM.

Origin

Landorus is based on the Inari, the kami of fertility.
