Kylie

Kylie (Japanese: チナツ Chinatsu) is one of the characters of the day in A Full Course Tag Battle! of the Pokémon anime.

She appeared along with her fiancé, Roman, who owns the Seven Stars Restaurant on the Valor Lakefront. Trainers must battle her and her fiancé in a double battle in order to eat in the restaurant for free. Kylie and Roman first battled with Ash and Brock and were both easily defeated. Then they were to battle May and Dawn. But before they could start, Team Rocket broke in the restaurant and stole all the food.

Kylie tried to use her Munchlax to help May's Munchlax locate the the missing food but it seemed to be thrown off easily.

After May and Dawn dealt with Team Rocket, Kylie and Roman started their battle with May and Dawn. After putting up a good fight, they were defeated.

Pokémon

This listing is of Kylie's known Pokémon in the anime:

Kylie's Munchlax
Munchlax
Munchlax was first seen in a double battle being partnered with Roman's Snorlax against Brock's Sudowoodo and Ash's Pikachu. The battle ended quickly when Brock's Sudowoodo countered Munchlax's Giga Impact and damaged him with Double Edge.

Munchlax's only known move is Giga Impact.

Kylie's Drifloon
Drifloon
Drifloon was first seen in a double battle being partnered with Roman's Girafarig against May's Blaziken and Dawn's Piplup. Their battle was interrupted however by Team Rocket who stole all of the restaurant's food.

After the food was reclaimed the trainers agreed to continue the battle. Piplup started with a BubbleBeam only to be countered then hit by Drifloon's Constrict grabbing hold of Piplup in the process. Piplup then attacked Drifloon, along with Girafarig, with a Whirlpool and was finished off in a combination of Piplup's BubbleBeam and Blaziken's Fire Spin

Drifloon's only known move is Constrict.

In the games

A character named Kylie also appears at the Seven Stars Restaurant in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. However, the game Kylie's Japanese name is ココ Coco and her Pokémon are different, meaning Kylie in the anime was at the most inspired by Kylie in the game and is not the same character. In the games also, Kylie and Roman's father is the owner/chef of the restaurant.

Trivia

  • Kylie's Japanese name contains natsu meaning summer. Her fiancé's Japanese name contains aki meaning autumn.
  • Kylie tends to use English phrases in the Japanese version such as, "Wonderful!" and, "Nice idea!"
  • Despite being a beautiful older female, Brock does not show romantic interest for her. However this may be due to Brock respecting her engagement status. He is shown to respect marriage status (as illustrated by his reaction upon learning that a Nurse Joy was married in Drifloon on the Wind!).
  • Both Kylie and Roman resemble the Lady and Rich Boy trainer classes, respectively.
  • Pokémon.com's summary for the episode mentions Kylie as Charlene, probably meaning it was an initially planned name for her.
  • Her Munchlax knows Giga Impact, a move it cannot legally learn.
