Karen (Japanese: ? Karin) is a trainer of Dark-type Pokémon. She appears to be a young, attractive, blonde woman in her mid to early '20s.

In the Games

Karen is a member of the Elite Four in the Generation II games. She is the one of the five trainers one must battle after defeating all eight Gym Leaders of Johto.

Karen prefers Dark-type Pokémon because she likes the bad-boy image they portray.

The other three members of the Elite Four in Generation II are: Koga, Bruno, and Will. The Champion is Lance.

In the Pokémon Special Manga

Karen, along with Will, Blue, Silver, Shum, and Cart, is one of the children kidnapped by the Mask of Ice and raised to be his servants. Karen was one of the leaders of the new Team Rocket formed in Johto.

After the Mask of Ice was defeated, Karen formed an alliance with Bruno, Will, and Koga. The four of them all ex-members of various criminal organizations.
