Judgment (Japanese: さばきのつぶて Judgment Strike) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation IV. It is the signature move of Arceus and, like Arceus, varies in type depending on the Plate held by the user.

Effect

Generations IV and V

Judgment inflicts damage and has no secondary effect. The type of Judgment depends on the type of Plate held by the user, being Normal-type if there is no held Plate.

Judgment is unaffected by Normalize.

Generation VI

If Magic Room is in effect, Judgment's type will always be Normal regardless of the Plate held.

Judgment is unaffected by Normalize, Pixilate, Refrigerate, and Aerilate. However, it is affected by Ion Deluge (if the move would be Normal-type) and Electrify.

Mystery Dungeon

While neither Arceus nor Judgment are legitimately obtainable prior to WiiWare games, the move Judgment still exists in Explorers of Sky data—it has no description, and its name is $$$, however. It hits all enemies in the room, and since Plates do not exist, it instead uses the user's primary type.

Pokémon Conquest

Judgment deals damage to all Pokémon adjacent and diagonal to the user. Due to Arceus's Ability, Omnipotent, Judgment will always deal normally effective damage, despite being listed as a Normal-type move. Since no other Pokémon can use Judgment—as moves like Sketch and Mimic are not available in Pokémon Conquest—and Abilities cannot be changed or suppressed, Judgment will always be affected by Omnipotent.

Pokémon Conquest

Judgment is the only move of Arceus. Because there are no plates in this game, Judgment always deals Normal-type damage, ignoring immunities and resistances because of Arceus's Ability.

Trivia

  • Due to the types of both Arceus and Judgment being determined by the Plate held, Judgment always receives STAB when used by Arceus.
    • Furthermore, Judgment's power is always boosted by the Plate (except for Normal-type Judgment).
  • In the English debut of the movie Arceus and the Jewel of Life, Arceus consistently said the word "Justice" whenever using this move.
