The instructor (Japanese: 係員 attendant) is a character of the day who appeared in Battles in the Sky!. He works at the Sky Battle center located in the Kalos Canyon, serving as a guide for newcomers and also as one of the referees for the Sky Battles held in the place.
He approached Ash and his friends as they witnessed a Sky Battle going on and asked if it was their first time at Kalos Canyon. As the group showed interest in Sky Battles, the instructor took them to the Sky Battle center. He rented them "wing suits", the official suits used for Sky Battles, and had them practice flying in an air tube. During this, a Sky Trainer and instructor named Moria challenged Ash to a Sky Battle. Ash gladly accepted, but the instructor worried if he would be alright, since Ash had only just started practicing. Moria assured the instructor he would be, and as such the battle commenced. The instructor agreed to referee the battle.
The first battle he refereed was Ash's Hawlucha against Moria's Talonflame. Afterwards Ash and Moria had another battle with Ash now using his Fletchling instead, which he also refereed. During this battle, he witnessed Ash's Fletchling evolving into Fletchinder. After the battle, he said his farewells to Ash and his friends as they continued on their journey. He proposed Bonnie to come back to the Sky Battle center one day, as she had showed interest in Sky Battling before, but was too small to take part. The instructor promised to prepare a wing suit for her.
