Igglybuff (Japanese: ププリン Pupurin) is a dual-type Normal/Fairy baby Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation VI, it was a pure Normal-type.

It evolves into Jigglypuff via happiness, who evolves into Wigglytuff via Moon Stone.

Physiology
Igglybuff is a small, bipedal balloon-like Pokémon that is completely pink. Its body can turn deep pink when the temperature increases, or when it sings continuously. It has a rounded tuft of hair on top of its head, a small swirl-like pattern on its forehead, and red eyes. Igglybuff has small, stubby limbs, and is usually seen levitating in the air. Rather than walking, this small Pokémon bounces like a ball to move around, as its body is extremely soft and elastic — although it may not be able to stop if it does this. As Igglybuff moves, it secretes sweat with a sweet fragrance, which calms the emotions of its foes.
Igglybuff is a small, balloon-like animal that's pink all over. It has a tuft of hair on top of it's head and red eyes in contrast to the teal eyes of its later evolutions.

Although it has singing abilities, Igglybuff is not able to sing for long periods due to its underdeveloped vocal cords. It often gets a sore throat from singing too frequently. When Igglybuff gets praised, its singing slowly becomes better and better. Igglybuff tend to live in the List of Pokémon by habitat close by freshwater streams. It uses water from the streams to gargle in its sore throat.
Gender differences
None.

Major appearances
Two Igglybuff twins, nicknamed Gigglybiff and Gigglybuff, made their main series debut in Same Old Song and Dance, under the ownership of Brittany, who was practicing for a concert with them. Jigglypuff was jealous of them as they were stealing its audience.

In The Brockster Is In!, Normajean's Igglybuff was badly poisoned by a Tentacruel alongside several of her other baby Pokémon. It was then healed by a Softboiled from Brock's Chansey.

Minor appearances
Igglybuff debuted in Pikachu & Pichu, where one was part of the Pichu Brothers' Posse.

In A Double Dilemma, an Igglybuff was living in North Petalburg.

An Igglybuff appeared in A Fan with a Plan.

Special abilities
In Hungry For the Good Life!, two Igglybuff were being cared for by Mr. Backlot.
This small Pokémon is extremely elastic and can bounce like a ball. It may not be able to stop if it does this. It also displays the singing abilities of it's evolutions, but isn't able to sing as long as they can. It also smells sweet to calm the emotions of it's foes.

Behavior
An Igglybuff appeared in Arceus and the Jewel of Life.
Igglybuff's extremely flexible and elastic body makes it bounce continuously. If it starts to roll, its bouncing can become out of control and very difficult to stop.
Igglybuff can often be found practicing its singing. If it continously sings strenuously, its body slowly turns a deepening pink color. Igglybuff's vocal chords are not sufficiently developed however and it can often end up with a sore throat from singing too much.

Habitat
A Trainer's Igglybuff appeared in A League of His Own!.

Igglybuff tend to live in grassland close by freshwater streams. They use water from the streams to gargle in their sore throats, which can occur from straining their vocal chords.

Diet
Three Trainers' Igglybuff appeared in The First Day of the Rest of Your Life!.

Igglybuff twins appeared in Same Old Song and Dance.  These Igglybuff were owned by a girl named Brittany and were practicing for a concert. Jigglypuff was jealous towards the Igglybuff twins as they were stealing its audience.
Three Trainers' Igglybuff appeared in The Power of Us.

An Igglybuff was one of the Pokémon Spoink mistook for its lost pearl in Pearls are a Spoink's Best Friend.
A Trainer's Igglybuff appeared during a flashback in Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!.

Igglybuff, which evolve into Jigglypuff, are so incredibly elastic that they always seem to be bouncing. They have stubby legs, so for these Pokémon, bounding from place to place is much faster than walking. Unlike its equally adorable relatives, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, Igglybuff has red eyes.

Trivia
Trivia
*Igglybuff is one of the few Pokémon to change its shiny2 form between generations. In Generation II, the alternate color had a green swirl and green eyes. In Generation III, Igglybuff's color became a little darker and there was red added to the still green eyes. In Generation IV, there was no more green.
* Igglybuff is tied with Caterpie, Weedle, Magikarp, Carvanha, List of Pokémon with form differences Deoxys, and Stonjourner for having the lowest base Special Defense stat of all Pokémon.
*Due to Igglybuff's soft, flexible pink body and its round shape, it bears a resemblance to Kirby (character). It shares these characteristics with Cleffa and Happiny. Igglybuff is also similar to Kirby because of its balloon-like characteristics.
* Igglybuff has the lowest base Defense stat of all Fairy Pokémon.
*Although the Pokédex states that when it starts rolling it becomes impossible to stop, it can not learn Rollout by level-up.
* Igglybuff is tied with Cleffa and Morelull for the lowest base Speed stat of all Fairy-type Pokémon.
* A List of unused Pokémon and character designs depicts an unused Pokémon with the same Pokédex number as Igglybuff.
* Igglybuff and its evolved forms share their category with Qwilfish and Drifloon. They are all known as the Balloon Pokémon.
* Igglybuff, Cleffa, and Togepi are the only baby Pokémon to have a TAG TEAM Pokémon-GX card.

Origin
Igglybuff appears to be based on a balloon due to its inflatable body. Its soft fur and singing ability may be based on plush toys that play music to help children fall asleep. Its round shape resembles a powder puff or a Profiterole, and its pink color, rubbery skin, and ability to learn Bounce are similar to a rubber ball.

Name origin
Name origin
Igglybuff's name rhymes with Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff. Its Japanese name is a variation on Jigglypuff, the Japanese word for pudding, or the addition of an extra pu to Jigglypuff's Japanese name – a combination of 風船 fūsen, balloon, and 膨れる fukureru, to expand or inflate.
Igglybuff may be a combination of jiggly or wiggly and buff leather (a pale, soft, flexible leather).

Pupurin may be a combination of プチ puchi (petite) and プリン Crème caramel (pudding; referring to its soft body).

Igglybuff (Japanese: ププリン Pupurin) is a dual-type Normal/Fairy baby Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Prior to Generation VI, it was a pure Normal-type.

It evolves into Jigglypuff when leveled up with high friendship, which evolves into Wigglytuff when exposed to a Moon Stone.

Biology

Although it has singing abilities, Igglybuff is not able to sing for long periods due to its underdeveloped vocal cords. It often gets a sore throat from singing too frequently. When Igglybuff gets praised, its singing slowly becomes better and better. Igglybuff tend to live in the grasslands close by freshwater streams. It uses water from the streams to gargle in its sore throat.

Evolution

Igglybuff evolves into Jigglypuff, which evolves into Wigglytuff.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

Whitney owns an Igglybuff, as first seen in Irked Igglybuff and Curmudgeonly Cleffa. She used her to battle what she thought was a Suicune when she visited the Mahogany Gym. Her Sweet Kiss provided an opening for her Miltank to attack the creature, but failed when the moving ice sculpture felled Miltank and forced her to team up with Pryce's Swinub.

In The Last Battle XIII, an Igglybuff is sent to participate in the fight in Ilex Forest.

Trophy information

Igglybuff, which evolve into Jigglypuff, are so incredibly elastic that they always seem to be bouncing. They have stubby legs, so for these Pokémon, bounding from place to place is much faster than walking. Unlike its equally adorable relatives, Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff, Igglybuff has red eyes.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

Igglybuff stars as the player character in the special episode Igglybuff the Prodigy. This Igglybuff is the unevolved Guildmaster Wigglytuff from the main story.

Trivia

Origin

Igglybuff appears to be based on a balloon due to its inflatable body. Its soft fur and singing ability may be based on plush toys that play music to help children fall asleep. Its round shape resembles a powder puff or a cream puff, and its pink color, rubbery skin, and ability to learn Bounce are similar to a rubber ball.

Name origin

Igglybuff may be a combination of jiggly or wiggly and buff (a pale, soft, flexible leather).

Pupurin may be a combination of プチ puchi (petite) and プリン purin (pudding; referring to its soft body).
