An Idol (Japanese: アイドル Idol) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that debuted in the Generation IV games. Outside the Battle Tower, there is only one Idol, Grace, who is found in the Jubilife City TV station in Diamond and Pearl and inside Oreburgh City's Pokémon Center after the player defeats Gym Leader Gardenia in Pokémon Platinum. Idols are teenage girls dressed up in elaborate pink pop star outfits with a microphone.

They mostly use cute Pokémon from the Fairy Egg Group, such as Pikachu and Clefairy, in battle.

Trivia

  • Before the Idol trainer class was introduced, the goal of Marina, one of the main characters of The Legend of Thunder!, was to become a Pokémon Idol. She was shown to have become a Top Coordinator, modeled on a magazine cover, and even to have her own merchandise (like a real-world idol) by the time of the Diamond & Pearl series, which is set in the same generation the Idol class was introduced.
  • In Diamond and Pearl, Idol Grace can be fought in the Jubilife TV station on Sundays.
  • In Platinum, Grace can be found in these Pokémon Center locations around Sinnoh:
Sunday, Saturday: Snowpoint City
Monday, Friday: Pastoria City
Tuesday, Thursday: Oreburgh City
On Wednesdays, Grace cannot be found in any Pokémon Center in Sinnoh.
