Hyper Cutter (Japanese: かいりきバサミ Superpowerful Claws) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Nine Pokémon have this Ability, all of which have powerful claws or jaws.

Effect

In battle

Hyper Cutter prevents the Attack stat from being reduced (except those self-inflicted) from moves such as Growl or Abilities such as Intimidate. However, the stat can be changed by Power Swap, Heart Swap or Power Split and inflict a stat boost with Swagger.

Outside of battle

In Pokémon Emerald, using Cut will remove all tall grass within a two square radius of the player's position, as opposed to a one square radius without this Ability. In Generation IV and onward, Hyper Cutter has no effect outside of battle due to removal of cutting tall grass.
