Route 122 (Japanese: 122番水道 Water Route 122) is a water route in central Hoenn, connecting Route 121 and Route 123. Mt. Pyre lies on an island in the center of the route.

Route description

Route 122 is a very short route bordered on the east and west sides by rocks. The water in the route appears to be from a river that flows towards the ocean.

Starting at the north end (where the route connects to Route 121), travelers have a choice of turning either left or right. Both routes will take them to the same endpoint (Route 123) with no significant differences apart from the scenery; the route houses no Trainers and no items.

To reach Route 123, Trainers must Surf around an island. This is the island on which Mt. Pyre is located. The entrance is on the southern side of the route, opposite the pier that returns the player to dry land.

The route is similar in style to Route 126, which shares a circular formation with Route 122, and surrounds the inactive volcano that Sootopolis City is built in. Sootopolis is home to what is largely considered a counterpart of Mt. Pyre: the Cave of Origin.

In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it's only possible to go straight south around the western side of Mt. Pyre as the area has been merged with the eastern border of the Route. Rocks are placed at the Route 123 exit preventing further passage eastward.
