Route 116 is an east-west route in western Hoenn.

Route description

Route 116 is host to several trainers, and most notably, the headquarters of the drilling team in charge of Rusturf Tunnel. There are three large patches of grass on the route, containing wild Pokémon at low levels. Most of the trainers are either hikers or youngsters, having various low-level Pokémon with them on the first passthrough. This route is also the first area where trainers will encounter wild Whismur and the only place to find wild Skitty and Nincada. It is also one of the three places trainers will be able to find wild Taillow, the beginner's Flying-type native to Hoenn.

Trainer Tips

  • If you want to stop a Pokémon from evolving, press the B button while it is trying to evolve. The startled Pokémon will stop. This is called an evolution cancel.
  • Your Bag has several Pockets. Items you obtain are automatically placed in the appropiate Pockets. No Trainer can afford to be without a Bag of their own.
