Trivia
- Helioptile is the first Pokémon to have Normal-type as a secondary typing.
Origin
Helioptile is based on a lizard. It is likely based on a Frill-necked lizard. It may also be based on the spotted salamander, a salamander that can photosynthesize.
Name origin
Helioptile is a combination of ἥλιος helios (Ancient Greek for sun), heliophile (organism attracted to large amounts of sunlight), and reptile.
Erikiteru may be a combination of elekiter, エリマキトカゲ erimaki tokage (frill-necked lizard), and 照る teru (to shine).
