Trivia

  • Ononokus is the only fully-evolved pure Dragon-type Pokémon in a three-stage evolutionary line.
  • Like Flygon, Ononokus is commonly mistaken to be a pseudo-legendary Pokémon due to its evolutionary stage and typing.
  • Ononokus has the highest Attack stat of all non-legendary Dragon-type Pokémon.
  • Ononokus is the only yellow Template:Type2 Pokémon.

Origin

Its tusks are similar in appearance to Scutosaurid's or possibly Ceratopsid's cheekbone tusks and are also similar to battle axe blades. Its golden, armor-like scales may mean it might be based on an armadillo lizard.

Name origin

Its name emphasises 斧 ono "axe" but also combines 戦く ononoku "trembled". It also came from an english word "axe" アックス akkusu.
