Release information

In Japan, this card was awarded in several ways at various events. There are 16 prints in total. The first 8 prints feature the Gym Leaders of Hoenn as they appear in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, all with artwork by 5ban Graphics. These prints were awarded in two ways at events leading up to the start of and during the Rayquaza Mega Battle in 2015. The first was to participants of the Rayquaza Pre-Battle, which was held at Pokémon Card Gym venues and Pokémon Centers across Japan between April 1 and 30, 2015. Each print was exclusive to a region of Japan in which the Rayquaza Pre-Battle events took place. These were as follows:

• Roxanne print – Pokémon Center Nagoya, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Hokkaido, Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata, Fukushima, and Niigata.
• Brawly print – Pokémon Center Osaka, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Tochigi, Ibaraki, Chiba, and Tokyo.
• Wattson print – Pokémon Center Fukuoka, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Gunma, Saitama, Nagano, Yamanashi, and Kanagawa.
• Flannery print – Pokémon Center Sapporo, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Shizuoka, and Aichi.
• Norman print – Pokémon Center Tohoku, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Gifu, Mie, Ishikawa, Kukui, Shiga, and Kyoto.
• Winona print – Pokémon Center Tokyo Bay, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Nara, Wakayama, and Osaka.
• Tate and Liza print – Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Hyogo, Tottori, Okayama, Hirochima, and Yamaguchi.
• Wallace print – Pokémon Center Yokohama, plus Pokémon Card Gym venues in the following prefectures: Tokushima, Kagawa, Ehime, Kochi, Kukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, and Kagoshima.

The second was randomly to players who accumulated 3 Play Points by participating in concurrent Rayquaza Mega Battle-related events. These included the qualifying phases of the tournament: the Rayquaza Gym Battle, the Rayquaza Pokémon Center Battle, and the Rayquaza Mega Battle Last Challenge qualifier; and side events at the tournament itself: the 3 on 3 Battle and the Knockout Battle. Five Play Points were awarded for participating in the qualifying events, and 2 for the tournament side events. 2 Play Points were awarded for a win in any of the side events, with a further 3 Play Points awarded for a 3-match winning streak in the 3 on 3 Battle.

The Rayquaza Gym Battle was held between March 1 and 25, 2015 at participating Pokémon Card Gym venues. The Rayquaza Pokémon Center Battle was held at participating Pokémon Centers across two periods for different age categories: between March 28 and April 4, 2015 (all ages), and between March 29 and April 5, 2015 (elementary school students). The Rayquaza Mega Battle and Last Challenge qualifier was held at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Nagoya on May 5, 2015, at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba on May 9 and 10, 2015, at the Sapporo Factory, Sapporo on May 23 and 24, 2015, and at Intex Osaka, Osaka on May 31, 2015. Each of these prints also feature the Pokémon Card Gym logo in the bottom right corner of the artwork.

In 2016, 8 new prints of the card were released featuring the 8 Gym Leaders of the Kanto region, printed on an updated card template reminiscent of the Original Era layout, all with artwork by Ryo Ueda. These prints could be obtained in three ways, the first of which was to participants of the Gym Badge Get Battle, held at Pokémon Card Gym venues across Japan between October 1 and November 30, 2016. 4 prints were only available in October, and the remaining 4 only in November. Event Organizers at each venue were also sent 1 available print at random for each event they oversaw. The top 3 players of tournaments at each venue were also awarded a Cosmos Holofoil version of 1 available print at random. The Holofoil versions were only available as part of the Gym Badge Get Battle.

The second was randomly to players who accumulated 2 Play Points by participating in various events held as part of the 20th Anniversary Festa in 2016. Eligible events included the 20th Anniversary Battle, the Classic Battle, the Shōwa VS Heisei Battle, the Sylveon Girls Battle, the Shiftry Masters Battle, and the the 3 on 3 Battle. 2 Play Points were awarded for participating in each of the eligible events. A further 6 Play Points were awarded to those who advanced to the Climax Stage in the 20th Anniversary Battle. 2 Play Points were awarded for each win in the Shōwa VS Heisei Battle, with a bonus 2 Play Points awarded to each member of the winning team at the end of the competition. 3 Play Points were awarded for an individual win in the 3 on 3 Battle, with a bonus 3 Play Points awarded if a team managed 3 consecutive wins. The 20th Anniversary Festa was held at Toki Messe, Niigata on October 10, 2016 and at the Nagoya Trade & Industry Center, Nagoya on October 23, 2016.

The final method of distribution was held in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary Festa: people participating in events held at Pokémon Circles present at University Festivals across Japan were given a copy of this card and a random classic design Energy card. Participating venues and the dates on which the cards were available are as follows:

• Brock print – the 67th Iwate University Kozukata Festival, held at Iwate University, Morioka on October 15 and 16, 2016; the 68th Tohoku University Festival, held at Tohoku University, Sendai between October 28 and 30, 2016; and the 69th Hosei Festival, held at Hosei University, Tokyo between November 3 and 6, 2016.
• Misty print – the 17th Yagami Festival, held at Keio University, Tokyo on October 8 and 9, 2016; the 2016 Aoyama Festival, held at Aoyama Gakuin University, Tokyo between October 28 and 30, 2016; the 42nd Soho Festival, held at University of Tsukuba, Tsukuba between November 4 and 6, 2016; and the 2016 Waseda Festival, held at Waseda University, Tokyo on November 5 and 6, 2016.
• Lt. Surge print – the Gotō Festival, held at Niigata University of Health and Welfare, Niigata on October 9, 2016; the 54th Technology Festival, held at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Nagoya on November 19 and 20, 2016; and the 66th Chōfu Festival, held at University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo between November 25 and 27, 2016.
• Erika print – the 57th Shindai Festival, held at Niigata University, Niigata on October 22, 2016; the 50th Oberlin University College Festival, held at J. F. Oberlin University, Tokyo on October 29 and 30, 2016; the Machikane Festival, held at Osaka University, Osaka between November 4 and 6, 2016; the 51st Kamiyama Festival, held at Kyoto Sangyo University, Kyoto between November 4 and 6, 2016; and the 58th Mita Festival, held at Keio University, Tokyo between November 17 and 20, 2016.
• Koga print – the Tokiwa Festival, held at Yokohama National University, Yokohama between October 29 and 31, 2016; the 2nd Sakura Festival, held at Nihon University, Tokyo between November 3 and 5, 2016; and the 2016 Tama Art University Art Festival, held at Tama Art University, Tokyo between November 4 and 6, 2016.
• Sabrina print – the Kouryou Festival, held at Takushoku University, Tokyo between October 21 and 23, 2016; the 67th Ryūboku Festival, held at Kyoto Prefectural University, Kyoto on November 5 and 6, 2016; and the Kyudai Festival, held at Kyushu University, Kyushu on November 19 and 20, 2016.
• Blaine print – the 5th Sigma Festival, held at Kumamoto University, Kumamoto between November 4 and 6, 2016; the Toho Festival, held at Toho University, Tokyo on November 5 and 6, 2016; and the 63rd Aramaki Festival, held at Gunma University, Maebashi on November 12 and 13, 2016.
• Giovanni print – the 13th Waseda University Tokorozawa Campus Festival, held at Waseda University, Tokyo on October 30, 2016; the 132nd Meiji Festival, held at Meiji University, Tokyo on October 30 and 31, 2016; the 62nd Architecture Festival, held at Tokai University, Tokyo between November 1 and 3, 2016; the 2016 Orange Festival, held at Tokoha University, Shizuoka on November 5, 2016; and the 65th Hiroshima University College Festival, held at Hiroshima University, Hiroshima on November 5 and 6, 2016.
