It is a Normal-type move in this generation.

Generation II

Gust can hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly, and if it does, it will have its power doubled.

Gust is now a Flying-type move.

Generations III to IV

Gust can now also hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Bounce, and if it does, it will have its power doubled.

Generation V onward

Gust can now also hit Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Sky Drop, and if it does, it will have its power doubled. It can also hit non-adjacent opponents in Triple Battles.
