Release information

This card was first released in the English Primal Clash expansion. A Cracked Ice Holofoil print of this card was released in the English Earth's Pulse Theme Deck. Groudon was later printed as one of the XY Black Star Promos with new artwork by the same illustrator, released in the Primal Groudon Collection in North America and the Groudon Box elsewhere. A Jumbo print of this card was also included in the Groudon Box. The print originating as an XY Black Star Promo was released in Japan as one of the gifts available as part of the Hoopa's Appearance~! Campaign, which began in participating stores on June 20, 2015 and ran for a limited time. Customers who purchased ¥500 worth of eligible goods could draw a slip from an Appearance Box, which detailed their prize. Possible prizes included one of four XY-P Promotional cards, one of two Trophy Pokémon Tretta, a Steelixite Mega Stone for use with the interactive Pokémon Mega Ring, or a Shiny Rayquaza Moncollé figure. The Japanese print has the Hoopa's Appearance~! Campaign logo in the bottom left corner of the artwork. The original Primal Clash print was later released in Japan in the Double Mega BREAK Set: M Aerodactyl-EX + M Mawile-EX + Luxray BREAK on November 20, 2015.
