Trivia
Origin
It appears to be based simply on a sheep, although it might borrow its electrical aspect from the way wool builds up static charges.
Name origin
Flaaffy's name may be a combination of fluffy and baa, the sound a sheep makes. It may also incorporate "laugh", considering its playful nature. The double-A in its name could also originate from a double-A battery, given Flaaffy's electric type. Its Japanese name could come from 羊毛 yōmō, wool, and a corruption of もこもこ mokomoko, fluffy.
In other languages
- German: Waaty - From watt and/or Watte (cotton wool).
- French: Lainergie - From laine (wool) and énergie (energy).
- Korean: 보송송 Bosongsong
- Chinese: 綿綿
