Final Gambit (Japanese: いのちがけ Extreme Risk) is a damage-dealing Template:Type2 move introduced in Generation V.

Effect

Final Gambit causes the user to faint after the attack, the target then receives damage equal to the user's lost HP. This effectively, with the possible exception of Counter, makes this move the strongest Template:Type2 move because the damage done can be in the hundreds. For example if used by a level 100 Blissey using Metronome (More reliably, one that has used Mimic to exploit the Transform Glitch to learn Sketch), the damage could be as much as 714 to the target.

If Final Gambit would not hit the opponent due to missing, immunity or Protect, then Final Gambit will fail and the user will not faint. Using this move will not activate the Focus Sash, and therefore, the Pokémon still faints regardless of whether the item is held or not.
