Pokémon world locations

Faraway Island (Japanese: さいはてのことう Furthest-away Island) is an island located far away from Hoenn, which is only available in Pokémon Emerald. Its location appears on the Old Sea Map and Captain Briney returns a favor by the ship in Lilycove City to sail to this far-off island.

Sign

On the island is a sign with old, fading writing dated either September, October, November, or December 6. It seems to be a reference to Mr. Fuji and the creation of Mewtwo. It also ends in a signature of which only remains which, for unknown reasons, was not included in the international releases of Emerald. If this is true, this means that Fuji, for whatever reason, returned to Faraway Island after the Mewtwo project. This island could also possibly be the South American area referenced in the Pokémon Mansion journals, which was described as a jungle in Guyana.

Since the last Pokémon Mansion journal entry took place in September, the possible sentence on the sign could be:

Japanese
9がつ 6か
ここに たちいる にんげんが ふたたび あらわれると すれば こころ やさしいで あらんことを ここに その ねがいを しるし この ‥‥を あとにする
フジ
English
September, 6th day.
If any human being sets foot here ever again, let it be a kindhearted person. With that hope, I depart.

Pokémon

A single Mew is found on this island. When it is engaged in battle, the battle music theme is a remix of Battle (VS Legendary Pokémon) (Japanese: 戦い(VS伝説のポケモン)) from FireRed and LeafGreen.

Pokémon Adventures

Faraway Island first appeared in Mirage is Far Away, in which Mr. Briney reported to Kimberly that he managed to find the island without the Old Sea Map. He told her Mew was there but it was alarmed by his presence and flew away from the island.

The place later appeared in The Final Showdown VIII, when all the rental Pokémon at Battle Frontier were calmed by Emerald using pellets with soil from the Pokémon's birthplace. Gold explained he was able to affect many different Pokémon using the same soil because it was taken from the home of Mew, who is said to possess the genes of all Pokémon.
