An Expert (Japanese: たつじん Expert) is a type of Pokémon Trainer that first debuted in the Generation III games. They are generally depicted as old men or old women in kimonos.

When paired together in Double Battles, they are called Old Couples.

A similar but different class was introduced in Generation IV under the name of Veteran.

They use a variety of Pokémon but tend towards Fighting-types.
