The Aquapolis print includes a Dot Code strip for use with the e-Reader, and has the card ID D-44-#. The short strip contains a brief card summary. There is no long strip for this card.

It was reprinted with new art again in Diamond & Pearl and Stormfront, this time by Ryo Ueda. It was reprinted in the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion with new artwork by Wataru Kawahara. The Japanese release of this print was reclassified as an Item card, but the English did not adopt this name until its release in the Black & White expansion, originating from the Beginning Set, with new artwork by Kent Kanetsuna. It was later reprinted in the English Legendary Treasures expansion, first originating from the Japanese Mewtwo vs Genesect Deck Kit.

Energy Switch was again reprinted with new artwork by 5ban Graphics in the English Furious Fists expansion, first originating as one of the Japanese XY-P Promotional cards available in the Card Box Xerneas•Yveltal including Energy Card, released on December 13, 2013, and available again in the Card Box Primal Groudon•Primal Kyogre including Energy Card, released on December 13, 2014. The Japanese Emerald Break expansion included a Secret print of Energy Switch, which was later printed in the English Roaring Skies expansion.
