Due to the fact that: this card's name at the time of Power Charge's original Expedition Base Set release, and its effect slightly differed from Power Charge; it was ruled that "Energy Charge" and "Power Charge" were not the same card in the English-language printings. {{pmin|France|French}}, {{pmin|Portugal|Portuguese}}, {{pmin|Brazil}}ian, and {{pmin|Spain|Spanish}} prints of Power Charge still bore the name Energy Charge however. A similar situation would later affect {{TCG ID|Neo Genesis|Moo-Moo Milk|101}} from Neo Genesis and {{TCG ID|HeartGold & SoulSilver|Moomoo Milk|94}} from {{TCG|HeartGold & SoulSilver}}, where slight differences in name and effect resulted in a ruling saying they were two different cards.

*The card's picture is the same as the one on the {{TCG ID|Neo Genesis|Energy Charge|85}} card from {{TCG|Neo Genesis}}.  Additionally, in Japan, France, Portugal, Brazil, and Spain, this card also bears the Energy Charge name.
*This card's exact effect would later appear in reworded form on the print of Energy Charge found in {{TCG|EX Deoxys}}.
