Empoleon (Japanese: エンペルト Emperte) is a Water-type Pokémon LV.X card. It is part of the Diamond & Pearl expansion.

Supreme Command しじょうめいれい

Once during your turn (before your attack), you may choose up to 2 cards from your opponent's hand without looking and put them face down next to the Defending Pokémon. (These cards are not in play or in your opponent's hand.) At the end of your opponent's next turn, return those cards to your opponent's hand. This power can't be used if Empoleon is affected by a Special Condition.

Hydro Impact ハイドロインパクト

Choose 1 of your opponent's Pokémon. This attack does 80 damage to that Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.) Empoleon can't attack during your next turn.

When this Pokémon has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Attach this card to 1 of your Pokémon in play. That Pokémon may use this card's attack instead of its own. At the end of your turn, discard Empoleon. Attach this card to 1 of your Pokémon in play. That Pokémon may use this card's attack instead of its own. You may attach this as an Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon. While attached, this card is a Special Energy card and provides Energy. You may attach this as an Energy card from your hand to 1 of your Pokémon that already has an Energy card attached to it. When you attach this card, return an Energy card attached to that Pokémon to your hand. While attached, this card is a Special Energy card and provides every type of Energy but 2 Energy at a time. (Has no effect other than providing Energy.) You can't have more than 1 Pokémon in your deck. You can't have more than 1 Shining Empoleon in your deck. This card can't evolve into Pikachu. If this Baby Pokémon is your Active Pokémon and your opponent tries to attack, your opponent flips a coin (before doing anything else required in order to use that attack). If tails, your opponent's turn ends without an attack. When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards. Team Plasma When 1 of your Pokémon becomes a Mega Evolution Pokémon, your turn ends.

Release information

This card was reprinted as one of the DP Black Star Promos with different artwork by the same artist. It was released in September 2007 as one of the cards available in the Diamond & Pearl Collector's Tins. The reprint featured English-exclusive artwork until it was released in Japan as one of two cards available in the Shining Darkness Special Pack.

Trivia

Early print runs have a Poké-BODY symbol instead of a Poké-POWER symbol. This error was corrected in later print runs.

Origin

Hydro Impact functions very similar to Hydro Cannon, a move in the Pokémon games that Empoleon can learn via Move Tutor.
