Trivia
- Enbuoh is the only final evolution of a Generation V starter that has a secondary type.
- Enbuoh is currently the only Fire-type Pokémon that is able to learn a damaging Water-type move, Boiling Water, other than Sunny Form Castform.
- Enbuoh has the highest base HP, base Attack and single stat of all final evolution starter Pokémon. However, it is statistically the weakest fully-evolved Fire-type starter Pokémon.
- Additionally, Enbuoh is the slowest of all the fully evolved Fire-type starters.
- Although its Pokédex entry states that it uses fire punches to fight, Enbuoh is unable to legitimately have the move.
- Despite its entries mentioning its ability to mix power and speed to defeat the opponent, its base Speed is one of its lowest stats.
- Enbuoh is the heaviest of all the fully evolved Fire-type starters.
- Enbuoh is the third consecutive final evolution of a Fire-type starter to be part Fighting-type, after Blaziken and Infernape.
- Enbuoh learns the most recoil moves out of all fully-evolved Fire-type starter Pokémon.
- Enbuoh, Daikenki and Jalorda all share the same base stat total of 528.
Origin
Enbuoh is based on a pig or boar in a professional wrestler's or possibly a lucha libre's attire. It and its prevolutions, as stated by Ken Sugimori, were designed in a Chinese style. Because of its Chinese origin, it may have been based on Zhu Bajie, a pig demon from the Chinese tale Journey to the West. The swirled pattern that surrounds its abdomen is visually similar to the patterns on ancient greek pottery. It may have also been based on the golden solar boar of Norse mythology, Gullinbursti.
Name origin
"Enbuoh" may be derived from the words 炎 en (flame) or ember, 豚 buta (pig) or 武 bu (martial arts), and 王 ō (king). The "buoh" might also come from boar.
