This article is about the third monthly issue of The Electric Tale of Pikachu containing only the third chapter. For the third collected volume of The Electric Tale of Pikachu, see Electric Tale of Pikachu volume 3.

The Electric Tale of Pikachu issue 3 is the third monthly issue of the manga series The Electric Tale of Pikachu to be released by VIZ Media. It contains the second chapter of the manga, Play Misty For Me.

The reason the third chapter was published as issue 2 and chapter two published as issue 3 is widely speculated to be due to the VIZ Media receiving negative feedback on the largely unedited amounts of cleavage from Misty and May Oak in issue #1, so extensive editing was done on chapter two to cover up Misty and her sisters's revealing swimsuits, requiring chapter three to be released first to keep the releases on schedule. This reordering creates a continuity error, as Ash uses Butterfree in chapter 3/issue #2, which he actually is revealed to have captured as a Caterpie in this chapter and it evolves into Butterfree during his battle with Misty.

This issue was included as part of Volume 1 along with ET01, ET03, and ET04. The original order of the chapters was restored for the collected volume release.

Misty's top in the monthly (left) and volume (right) releases

While much of the revealing clothing in this chapter was edited out before its release in English, further differences occur between the English monthly and collected volume releases. In this release, Misty is wearing the same white top as in the Japanese version as well as in Pikachu, I See You! - a white top revealing some cleavage. In the collected volume, however, her top is re-drawn as a black top with no cleavage revealed.
