EX Delta Species (Japanese: ホロンの研究塔 Research Tower of Holon) was the 11th EX expansion set for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, and the 26th expansion set (30th in Japan) overall. It was the first expansion to feature δ Delta Species.
History
- October 7, 2005 - Japanese half-deck halves
- October 28, 2005 - Japanese main expansion
- November 4, 2005 - English commercial relase
However the prereleases for the English set were held starting from the October 22, making this the first set in history to be revealed for the first time outside Japan.
Contents
Delta Species contained 86 cards and 3 half-deck halves, 111 cards altogether in the Japanese release. There were 114 cards in the English release, with Darkness Energy, Metal Energy, and a Japanese Azumarill promo as the boxtopper added.
Trivia
- Delta Species introduced the concept of δ Delta Species. These Pokémon possesed unusual types, always being partially Metal in their fully evolved forms, so may be considered the counterpart to Dark Pokémon in the EX series.
- This set contained only 3 Pokémon-ex, a record low for any set in the EX series.
- This set was the first to use the same kind of foil for both the Holo Rares and the Parallel Foils.
- According to the set backstory, the Research Tower is located in the middle of Eidolon Forest and was originally assigned the task of researching Mew. However the English release of Eidolon Forest was pushed back to 2006 to coincide with Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, as was the case with EX Deoxys, so this information was absent from the English release of Delta Species.
- The prerelease Promo for this set was Metang.
