<!--http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-episodes/04_47-right-on-rhydon/-->
<i>Our heroes are camped out by a lake where Ash wakes up one morning and sees a Rhydon emerging from the water. A swimming Rock-type Pokémon seems impossible, but one of the local Rhydon has indeed learned to use Surf—and a girl named Pietra is out to catch it! She's trying to complete a tunnel to a nearby town, but Rock-type Pokémon flee the excavation site whenever water drips from the tunnel's ceiling. If she had that swimming Rhydon, though, it would keep digging the tunnel no matter what!

Ash and his friends offer to help, of course. After chasing a wrong lead or two, they catch up with Rhydon in the middle of the lake. Pietra asks Rhydon to battle her, but Rhydon couldn't care less; it learned to swim so it could reach an island full of apple trees, and right now those seem much more interesting. Just as they catch up with Rhydon again, Team Rocket descends from the skies, grabs Rhydon, and flies away. They don't get far before Ash and his friends stop their escape, free Rhydon, and send them packing.

<!-- Detailed synopsis goes here. -->
Rhydon just wants to leave, but Pietra clings to it and demands a battle. She refuses to let go even when Rhydon dives below the water, so it takes her to shore before walking away. Pietra pleads for Rhydon's help one last time and Rhydon finally agrees to battle, though it takes some hard work on Marill's part to weaken it so Pietra can make a capture. With Rhydon's help, the excavation is soon complete. Ash and his friends exit the newly-completed tunnel and continue on towards Olivine City!</i>

The episode begins with Ash, Misty and Brock having a good sleep. Suddenly Misty wakes up and comes outside. Pikachu follows it and when it stops, it sees weird happening on the surface of the lake. Pikachu calls Ash. When Ash comes on the shore, there happens a big splash. And who made this splash: it was a Rhydon!
Plot
Ash and Ashfr are camping out by a lake where Ash sees a Rhydon swimming around the water. A Rock Pokémon that loves swimming is unheard of until a local girl named Pietra confirms what Ash saw as a swimming Rhydon. She is hoping to catch it to complete a tunnel for her grandma to allow her easier access to the nearby town, but all of her Rock-type Pokémon flee from the tunnel whenever water hits them from leaks in the ceiling. Pietra thinks that if she could catch the swimming Rhydon then it could help her complete it.

Ash tries to explain to Brock and Misty that he really saw a Rhydon in the lake, but they don't believe him because they know that rock Pokemon can't swim. But their arguing interrupts girl named Pietra and her Marill. Pietra explains that Rhydon is one of Pokemon that can learn Surf. But she needs to capture that Rhydon to clear the cave blocking the way to town. Other Rock and Ground Pokemon can do it, but there's water coming from rocks at the top, and these Pokemon afraid of water. So Ash and friends try to help Pietra to catch that Rhydon. Meanwhile, TRT heard in the bushes about their talking and tried to catch that Rhydon too. Pietra said that these woods are full of apples that Rhydon likes. So it may be somewhere in there. Team Rocket where walking trying to find Rhydon, and then they heard chomping coming out of the bushes. They ran there to see if it's Rhydon, but it was just Jessie eating apples! Of course there were plenty of them. Then Ash, Pietra and others walk and see apple leftovers falling from the bushes and when run to see who it is, they find out that it's Team Rocket! Then Team Rocket start their motto with mumbling. But then they see that Rhydon walking near them. Rhydon got angry that Team Rocket were eating these apples and blasted them off! Pietra asked Rhydon to battle and capture it, but Rhydon ran away and dived into water. But she had an idea. The island in the middle of the lake is full of these apples. Maybe Rhydon swam there. Everybody called out their water Pokemon including Marill and the set on Pietra's boat. Then all Pokemon dived in and saw Rhydon there. But they were no match for it. Rhydon's Horn Drill created whirlpool and all Pokemon got fainted.
Ash, Misty, and Brock offer to help Pietra catch the Rhydon. After finding out enough about the Rhydon they find it swimming towards the center of the island in the lake. Pietra gets ready to battle Rhydon, but Rhydon ignores her and continues to swim toward the island in the center full of apple trees. When they find Rhydon again, TRT come in and try to steal Rhydon, but as usual Ash and his friends stop them.

Pietra dived in and grabbed Rhydon's head. Rhydon trying to get her off, dived very deep into the lake, but Pietra still didn't let it go. Rhydon, seeing her running out of the air, swam to the surface and onto the shore. She asked it again id it can battle, and Rhydon hardly agreed. While then Team Rocket set the trap for Rhydon and fell asleep .After a few minutes they woke up by hearing someone falling ito the trap. But when the came there, they saw a Wobbuffet! It's all for Team Rocket. Marill started with Water Gun, but Rhydon's Horn Drill protected. Rhydon the used the Stomp attack, and Marill dodged it. Then Marill used Tackle, and then it got pushed itself. Rhydon was ready for a Body Slam, and Pietra commanded Marill to use its BubbleBeam. Rhydon fell down. After Marill use Water Gun again, and Pietra used Poké ball. But Rhydon came out. Marill's Water Gun and BubbleBeam were no match for Rhydon. But finally Marill used Iron Tail attack, and Rhydon got beaten. Pietra captured Rhydon and with its help the cave blocking to town was cleared. And once again our heroes continue to Olivine City.
Rhydon starts to leave, but Pietra clings to it until it battles her. Rhydon ends up going underwater to try and shake her but she doesn't let go, sensing her determination, Rhydon takes her to shore before leaving. Pietra starts to beg Rhydon for a battle and finally Rhydon agrees. Using only her Marill, Pietra captures Rhydon. With Rhydon's help, Pietra soon completes the tunnel. Ash and his friends exit the newly-completed tunnel and continue on their way to Olivine City.

Trivia

 • When Wobbuffet pops out of its Poké Ball while Team Rocket is talking about capturing the Rhydon, Jessie says that it's too bad they can't just make a trade. This is most likely a reference to the fact that she received Wobbuffet from a trade.
 • This episode marks the first use of Iron Tail in the anime. Iron Tail would go on to be one of the most commonly used attacks in the series, known by over fifty separate Pokémon as the anime has progressed (with one of the Pokémon knowing the move being Ash's Pikachu).
 • This episode is possibly a reference to the Surfing Rhydon that appeared in the Generation II games in Ecruteak City.
