A dungeon tile is a game element exclusive to the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. Dungeon floors are made of various dungeon tiles.

Types of tiles

Stairs

Stairs are the common way to proceed to the next floor of a dungeon. In Meteor Cave, the stairs will be disabled until the floor's Deoxys clone is defeated.

Warp Point

Certain dungeons will use Warp Points instead of stairs to progress to the next floor. In Red and Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Time, Darkness, and Sky, they have the same appearance as Warp Traps.

Wall

Walls define the rooms and corridors of dungeons and are normally impassable. Ghost Pokémon, Pokémon holding a Mobile Scarf, Pokémon that have used a Mobile Orb and Pokémon with the IQ skills Super Mobile or Absolute Mover can pass travel over through walls. In the Rescue Team and Explorers games, traveling through a wall costs the player 5 points of Belly. In Gates to Infinity, the player loses HP instead. Walls can be turned into regular floor tiles by using Rock Smash.

Water

A water tile can only be traveled on by Water, Pokémon that are flying or floating, and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Mover, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Dive can be used on these tiles hut Dig cannot. Pokémon that cannot travel on water tiles but are forced onto them from the effect of a move or item will be warped to a random regular floor tile.

Lava

Lava tiles can only be traveled on by Fire Pokémon, Pokémon that are flying or floating, and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Hiker, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Non-Fire types will be inflicted with a burn. Dig cannot be used on these tiles.

Air

Air tiles can only be traveled on by Pokémon that are flying or floating and Pokémon with the IQ skills All-Terrain Hiker, Super Mobile, or Absolute Mover. Dig cannot be used on these tiles.

Wonder Tile

Wonder Tiles cause any stat changes of the Pokémon stepping on them to be reverted. Floors with Wonder Tiles will have a certain number spawned.

Carpet

Carpet denotes the area of a Kecleon Shop. Any item found on carpet belongs to the Shop and leaving without paying for it will cause several Kecleon to appear and attack the party. Dropping an item on carpet and leaving will make the item belong to the Shop.

Traps

Traps are tiles that cause negative effects to the player and their party. Before being stepped on, they are disguised as regular floor tiles. Traps will not trigger if stepped on by enemies unless the trap was created by the party via a Trapper Orb or a move such as Spikes. Starting in Gates to Infinity, traps break after being triggered.

Trap RB TD Sky BSL GtI SMD Effect
Apple Trap Turns a random item in the Bag into a Big Apple.
Big Blast Trap Causes an explosion in a 5×5 area that deals 80 damage.
Blast Trap Causes an explosion in a 3×3 area that deals 40 damage.
Chestnut Trap Drops chestnuts onto the Pokémon, dealing 10 damage.
Discord Trap Causes the party to be inflicted with Discord.
Emera-Crush Trap An emera attached to the Pokémon's looplet is lost.
Emera-Swap Trap An emera in the Pokémon's looplet is changed into a different emera.
Explosion Trap Causes an explosion in a 3×3 area that cuts the party's HP in half and deals 40 damage to wild Pokémon. Fire Pokémon take half damage. Items and walls within area are destroyed. Not triggered if the weather is Rain or a Pokémon with the Ability Damp is on the floor.
Grimy Trap Causes some food items to turn into Grimy Food. Not triggered by teammates.
Grudge Trap All wild Pokémon are warped near the trap and given the Grudge status.
Gust Trap Pokémon is sent flying 10 squares in any direction. Hitting a wall or Pokémon causes 5 damage (to both Pokémon, when applicable).
Hunger Trap Reduces Belly by 10, or to 0 if less than 10. Can be triggered up to three times before breaking in some dungeons.
Mud Trap A random stat is lowered.
Pitfall Trap Deals 5 damage. If triggered by the player, the party falls to the next floor (out of the dungeon, if on last floor). If triggered by a teammate, they disappear from the dungeon. If triggered by the mission client, they disappear and the mission is failed. Only appears in descending dungeons.
Poison Trap Inflicts Poison. Doesn't affect Steel and Poison Pokémon or Pokémon with Immunity.
Pokémon Trap Causes unowned items in the room to turn into wild Pokémon. Disappears after triggering.
PP-Zero TrapRBTDS
PP-Leech TrapGtISMD
Reduces one move's PP to 0.
Random Trap Becomes any other trap. If applicable, the selected trap will affect all party members instead of only the one that stepped on the trap. Not triggered if the weather is Rain or a Pokémon with Damp is on the floor.
Seal Trap Causes one move to be Sealed.
Selfdestruct Trap Causes an explosion in a 3×3 area that cuts the party's HP in half and deals 40 damage to wild Pokémon. Fire Pokémon take half damage. Items and walls in the area are destroyed. Not triggered if the weather is Rain or a Pokémon with Damp is on the floor.
Slow Trap Temporarily lowers movement speed.
Slumber Trap Causes the sleep status.
Spiked TileRBTDS
SpikesGtISMD
Deals 15RB/20TDS damage. Using Spikes creates trap. After Explorers, the party doesn't trigger its own traps unless activated through the menu and traps naturally found in dungeons are renamed Spiky Traps.
Spiky Trap Deals 15 damage.
Spin Trap Inflicts the Confused status.
Stealth Rock Deals damage equal to 1/6 of max HP. Using Stealth Rock creates trap. Party doesn't trigger its own traps unless activated through the menu.
Sticky Trap Causes held item to become sticky, rendering it useless and unequippable. In Super Mystery Dungeon, or if the player triggers it and no item is held, a random item in the inventory will become sticky. Cleanse Orbs, clearing the dungeon, and, in Explorers of Sky, paying Lickilicky at a Secret Bazaar removes stickiness.
Summon Trap Summons up to 4RBTDS/3GtISMD wild Pokémon to adjacent tiles. Disappears after triggering.
Toxic Spikes Inflicts Poison and after Explorers, deals damage. Using Toxic Spikes creates trap. Party doesn't trigger its own traps unless activated through the menu.
Trip Trap Pokémon drops its held item. Unused in Rescue Team.
Warp Trap Warps Pokémon to a random regular floor tile.

Rescue Point

A Rescue Point appears under a target Pokémon when performing a friend rescue.

Sparkling floor

In Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon, sparkling floors will either spawn a wild Pokémon or give the player a Gold Bar or other rare item.

Training Switch

Training Switches will appear in certain dungeons in Gates to Infinity and Super Mystery Dungeon. When stepped on, the party will gain the Trained status, which causes moves to gain more points when used.
