Ditto (Japanese: メタモン Metamon) is a Normal-type Pokémon.

Ditto uses the move Transform to copy the opponent's moves, types, form, and non-HP stats. It is sought out for its ability to breed with any Pokémon other than the Pokémon in the "No Egg" group, including genderless ones.

Ditto is a pink/purple (Aquamarine when shiny) gelatinous blob.

Ditto is a genderless Pokémon.

Special abilities

Ditto is capable of Transforming in to an an exact replica of any other Pokémon (an ability that also shared with Mew). However, if Ditto tries to transform into something based on memory, it may get some of the details wrong. Ditto will also be unable to remain in a transformed state if it starts laughing.

In the anime

Ditto first appeared in EP037. Duplica and her Ditto used to perform for people, but the two haven't had an audience since people saw that Ditto couldn't change its face. Ditto fixed that problem near the end of the episode, when captured by Team Rocket.

In EP111, Drake of the Orange Islands owns a Ditto and used it to fight Ash's Pikachu.

Duplica found another Ditto sometime before EP174 that she named Mini-Dit. This second Ditto couldn't change its size.

Ditto was also owned by a member of Team Magma named Brody, who debuted in AG083. A Ditto suited Brody well because he's a master of disguise.

It can transform into anything. When it sleeps, it changes into a stone to avoid being attacked.

Its transformation ability is perfect. However, if it is made to laugh, it can't maintain its disguise.

When it encounters another Ditto, it will move faster that normal to duplicate that opponent exactly.

Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire

Ditto rearranges its cell structure to transform itself into other shapes. However, if it tries to transform itself into something by relying on its memory, this Pokémon manages to get details wrong.

Pokémon Emerald

A Ditto rearranges its cell structure to transform itself. However, if it tries to change based on its memory, it will get details wrong.

Pokémon FireRed

It can freely recombine its own cellular structure to transform into other life-forms.

Pokémon LeafGreen

Capable of copying an opponent's genetic code to instantly transform itself into a duplicate of the enemy.

• Pokémon Snap: Several Dittos are found in the Cave Area. They are disguised as Bulbasaurs. Hitting them with Pester Balls will reveal their true form.
• Pokémon Trozei: Ditto serves as a "wild card", meaning it can Trozei with any Pokémon and even Jammer Balls.
• Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Ditto is found in the Buried Relic dungeon. It is quite useless, as Transform does not copy the opponents moves or stats. Instead, it gives the user the appearance of a random Pokémon found on that floor. As it only has 1 PP, allowing only one use per dungeon without restoring items, it's only options after using Transform are to struggle or use the basic tackle attack exclusive to Mystery Dungeon.
