Defiant (Japanese: まけんき Competitive Spirit) is an Ability introduced in Generation V. Twelve Pokémon can have this Ability.

Effect

In battle

Defiant raises the user's Attack stat by two stages for each stat lowered by an opponent, including the Attack stat, even if reduced by Abilities, like Intimidate. This does not include self-induced stat drops like those from Close Combat. Defiant will not activate if the user's stat is lowered by an ally in Double and Triple Battles. If the user is holding a White Herb and a stat other than Attack is lowered, Defiant will trigger before the White Herb, so the user will receive the Attack boost and the lowered stat will be restored.

Outside of battle

Defiant has no effect outside of battle.
