Trivia

  • It is similar to Dark Rust and Bittercold in that they are the only creatures in the Pokémon games in that can be fought, but are not Pokémon.
  • Unlike Bittercold, the main Dark Matter can talk in the game before, during, and after the battle, similarly to how Dark Rust talks before and during the battle.
  • Dark Matter shares its Japanese and English names with Dark Matter from the Kirby series. Both can control the minds of other creatures, and both serve as bosses.
  • Dark Matter appears to be able to change its type mid-battle.
  • Like Bittercold, Dark Matter is created from the negative emotions of Pokémon. According to Ampharos, it is made up of hate, sadness, and rage.
