The episode starts with the Battle Pyramid in the sky, with Team Rocket holding on to it. Brandon asks Ash if he knew the legend of the Snowpoint Temple. Maria explains that it happened long ago. A volcano erupted violently and burned Snowpoint City to a fire pool. In front of a blue light appeared Regigigas. Not only that, Regice, Regirock, and Registeel also appeared to protect the city. Regigigas then went into a deep sleep and the Regi trio turned into pillars in Snowpoint Temple. Brandon suggested that the person behind that is aiming for Regigigas. Meanwhile, Team Rocket heard it and decided to capture Regigigas and present it to Giovanni, but they accidentally let go and fell off. Samuel show Snowpoint Temple on a screen and everybody sees Hunter J. Brandon explains to Maria that J was the one who treated Pokémon as tools. Brandon also explains to the gang that they came here to do research on the legend. J's henchmen see the Battle Pyramid and inform J. Inside the temple, J tells her henchmen not to let them get near, so they send many Metang and Skarmory to attack the Pyramid using Sludge Bomb and Flash Cannon, respectively. One of the engines is hit, and the Pyramid falls to the ground. Brandon, Maria and the gang goes off with a small airship while Samuel stays in the Pyramid to repair it. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt on the Skarmory and Piplup uses BubbleBeam on the Metang. After defeating J's henchmen's Pokémon, the gang runs in the temple.

Meanwhile, J sees the three pillars. J sends out Salamence and commands it to use Hyper Beam. The ice and rock pillars are soon destroyed. As Salamence is about to destroy the steel pillar, Brandon asks it to stop. Maria proceeds to explain that awakening Regigigas will put everything in danger. However, Salamence soon destroys the steel pillar and a crystal ball-like object begins glowing. Regigigas is still not awakened, and J commands Salamence to use Flamethrower and a triangle begins glowing. A red light appears from the triangle and Regigigas appears. It then begins using Hyper Beam. Just as J is about to turn Regigigas to stone using her bracelet, Regigigas uses Hyper Beam at her. This is countered by her Salamence's Dragon Pulse. J then retreats as Regigigas starts to go on a rampage. As the temple starts to collapse and rocks are about to fall on them, Brandon sends out his Regirock, Regice and Registeel. Regirock uses Focus Punch, Regice uses Zap Cannon and Registeel uses Iron Head to destroy the rocks. They then flee the temple.

The exit is blocked, but Regigigas manages to get out. Regigigas continues to use Hyper Beam. Brandon decides to capture it to calm it down. The legendary golems use Hyper Beam on Regigigas, and Regigigas counters it with its own Hyper Beam. The Regis then start to attack together, but Regigigas pins them down. Registeel and Regirock then grab hold of Regigigas and Regice uses Ice Beam, freezing Regigigas. J is overlooking them and states that it would be better to use their power to help her weaken Regigigas. Regigigas, however, manages to defrost. Regice uses Zap Cannon and Regigigas is paralyzed. After that, Registeel uses Iron Head and Regigigas falls. Regirock uses Stone Edge, making Regigigas very weak. Just as Brandon is about to capture Regigigas with a Poké Ball, J's Ariados uses its String Shot to tie them up. After J returns Ariados to its Poké Ball, Regigigas's eyes begin to glow and so do the eyes of the Regis'. Regirock and Regice use Zap Cannon and Registeel uses Flash Cannon to attack J. Maria explains that it was the same as the legend, the Regis had become the guardian of Regigigas. The four legendary Pokémon then start to go away from the temple, so J follows them.

All four Pokémon start to attack the mountains using Hyper Beam together. Brandon tries to return his Pokémon to their Poké Balls, but his attempts fail. Regice then uses Zap Cannon at Brandon but, luckily, Brandon dodges it. Dawn explains that it seems the four Regis are heading towards the city.

Once in the forest, the Regis start using Hyper Beam. Team Rocket still have plans to capture Regigigas, but Registeel blasts them off using Flash Cannon. Back near the temple, Piplup tries to bite the web while Brandon, Ash and Pikachu struggle to break free. Brock then had an idea. He told Maria that he is happy to be with her and he would never let go of the web that tied them together. Croagunk then come out and uses Poison Jab on him, breaking the web. Over the Battle Pyramid's speaker, Samuel explains that the Pyramid needed more time to repair. Brandon told him to inform Officer Jenny to protect the city.

Meanwhile, J uses her airship to get ahead of the legendary Pokémon. She and her henchmen are ready to capture Regigigas. The four Regis reach the area where she is. J's airship shoot lasers at them, and the Regis counter it with Hyper Beam. The lasers manage to shoot them though. After that, the airship shoots gum at Regigigas, trapping it. Regigigas then uses Hyper Beam, destroying one of the airship's engines. J tells the henchmen to get the airship out of Regigigas's firing range. The three Regis continue to use Hyper Beam at J, but she manages to dodge all of them. Just as J is about to use her bracelet to turn Regigigas to stone, Regirock protects it, and Registeel soon after, and finally Regice, turning to stone in the process. With no one to protect Regigigas, J uses the bracelet once again, however Brandon jumped down and was hit by the light, turning him to stone too. Regigigas catches him before he hits the ground. J uses her bracelet once again but Pikachu uses Thunderbolt and Piplup uses BubbleBeam. Salamence counters with Dragon Pulse. Regigigas gets free of the gum and stands in front of the airship. It deflects the Dragon Pulse back to Salamence, with J's bracelet destroyed in the process. Just as J is about to attack Regigigas once more, her henchmen reply that her client decided to cancel his deal with J. Immediately, she and her henchmen leave the area. Maria goes up to Regigigas and apologized it for awakening it and asks it to help them. It agrees, and used its powers to remove their petrification. After being thanked by Brandon, it turns back into an orb.

Just as the sun was about to set, the group returns to Snowpoint Temple. Brandon says that, to prevent Regigigas from awakening again, he will rebuild the temple and let Regice, Registeel and Regirock protect it, just like the legend. Brandon told Maria that they will work together to protect the sleeping Regigigas.
