(Japanese: ミオジム戦！はがねのバトル!! Mio Gym Match! Steel Battle!!) is the 108th episode of the Diamond & Pearl series, and the 574th episode of the Pokémon anime. It first aired in Japan on December 25, 2008.

Synopsis

Template:Incomplete synopsis Ash's long-awaited Gym Battle with Byron begins. Ash uses Chimchar against Byron's first Pokémon, Bronzor. He tries to dominate the battle with Fire attacks, but Byron's defense-oriented battling style prevents him from dealing much damage...

• This is Gliscor's first Gym battle, and as of this episode Ash's entire team has now participated in at least one Gym battle.
• As of this episode, Buizel has participated in more Gym Battles that any other member of Ash's Sinnoh team (including Pikachu if Gym Battles from other regions aren't counted). However, it also ties with Chimchar if its battle against Roark as a part of Paul's team is counted.
• This episode marks the shortest time between gym battles for Ash against a Sinnoh Gym Leader. Ash's last Gym battle was in DP102, against Fantina.
• Ash's victory against Byron is similar to his victory over Jasmine.
  • Jasmine's badge, the Mineral Badge, was the sixth Johto badge Ash obtained, while the Mine Badge is the sixth Sinnoh badge Ash obtained.
  • Both Jasmine and Byron were defeated in the 108th episode of their region (EP117 being the first episode of Johto).
  • Both leaders specialize in Template:Type2s, and also used a Steelix in battle.
  • Byron's Steelix was defeated by Ash's Chimchar, the Sinnoh region's Template:Type2 starter, while Jasmine's Steelix was defeated by Ash's Cyndaquil, the Johto region's Template:Type2 starter.
