The episode opens with highlights from the previous year’s {{g|Cosplay}} contest. {{si|Rhonda}}, the anchor of [[Sinnoh Now]] points out the upcoming dress up contest with the prize of a mystery {{g|egg}}. The camera crew gets closer and the microphone guy hits her in the face. She gets mad at first, but still being on the air, she changes her tone.
The dress up contest opens with Rhonda, wearing a {{p|Cherrim}} mask, giving the opening remarks and introducing the judges: [[Mr. Sukizo]], [[Officer Jenny]] wearing a {{p|Growlithe}} hat and [[Nurse Joy]] wearing a {{p|Chansey}} hat. {{Ash}} and {{ashfr|his friends}} watch from the stands as {{an|Dawn}} tells Ash about its popularity and that the goal is for a [[Pokémon]] to imitate another as closely as possible. Synopsis
