Connolly is a blackbelt who trains in Maylene's gym. His English voice actor is Mike Pollock. He appeared in Lost Leader Strategy and A Triple Fighting Chance.
In his first appearance, Connolly and his fellow blackbelts had lost faith in Maylene because of her loss to Paul and uncertainty about being a gym leader. Later he judged Maylene and Ash Ketchum's gym battle.
