As the TCG was still in its relative infancy, Wizards were still experimenting with organized play and so utilized the upcoming Jungle expansion to demonstrate tournament play within the Pokémon League. Special stamped "prerelease" versions of this card were created and awarded to participants of Jungle prereleases in July 1999. This has now become a standard within the TCG. The infamous prerelease {{TCG ID|Base Set|Raichu|14}} was also erroneously produced alongside these cards.

Release information

This card was released in the English Jungle expansion as both a Holofoil and Non Holofoil card, originating from the Japanese Pokémon Jungle expansion as only a Holofoil card. The Holofoil print of this card was later reprinted in the English Base Set 2 expansion.

Early prints of the Unlimited Holofoil version of this card were printed without the Jungle set symbol. This error was corrected later in the print run.

Prerelease versions of this card were created and awarded to participants of Jungle Prerelease tournaments held at Pokémon Leagues in July 1999. It was first rumored that four versions of this Prerelease promotional card exist (with the stamp having one of four different color variations: green, red, gold, and blue), though this has since been confirmed to be false. Only the green stamped variant was publicly released.

Trivia

Within the Prerelease Clefable printrun, some copies of Prerelease Base Set Raichu were also erroneously produced.

Origin

Metronome and Minimize are both moves in the Pokémon games that Clefable can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, whereas the Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
