Celadon University (Japanese: タマムシ大学 Tamamushi University) is a university located in Celadon City. Celadon University is a special university which only children of primary school age can attend.

In the games

Celadon University's crest

Celadon University does not directly appear in the games as a visitable location. However, it was used as a background for a special Magikarp giveaway in 1998. In this campaign, twenty players were awarded a special Magikarp that knows Dragon Rage through the "Celadon University Hyper Test" in various magazines published by Shogakukan.

Aside from the Magikarp itself, people who entered the campaign were also awarded several commemorative items. Among them were Magikarp TCG Promo card, a commemorative badge based on the university's crest, a Celadon University student ID card (with an artwork of the university on its back), a Celadon University notebook and a Celadon University student's book named Encyclopedia Pokemonica which detailed some mysteries of the Pokémon world, such as the history of Poké Balls.

The university's crest, as shown in the commemorative items, consists of a Magikarp, Gyarados and the Kanji 学 gaku, meaning "to learn".

In the anime

Celadon University is referred to multiple times in the anime. In Chikorita's Big Upset, the episode's Nurse Joy mentions that she studied a degree in Pokémon psychology at Celadon University. In Fossil Fools, it is revealed that Professor Oak used to teach there, and Foster was one of his top students.

In the manga

Following the Magikarp giveaway, the University has appeared in two manga series, namely Pokémon Gotta Catch 'Em All and Pokémon Adventures. In both manga, the appearance of the building is closely based on the artwork from the Student ID Card and the Magikarp with Dragon Rage is referenced in some way.

Shū visits Celadon University in Challenge at Tamamushi University! chapter. In order to be allowed to enter the university building one has to answer an exam question.

The university has a large campus, consisting of a swimming pool, Chemical Research Laboratory, Pokémon Pharmaceutical Faculty, Pokémon Art faculty (where Tomoaki Imakuni is one of the students), a Pokémon Environmental Study Faculty, and the University Hospital where Shū saves a Magikarp knowing Dragon Rage from a Machamp. A hospital worker awards him with a university crest badge for this.

In Pokémon Adventures

Celadon University appears in Pokémon Adventures, first appearing in Whacked by Marowak. Erika lectures here sometimes in addition to her duties as a Gym Leader. She is seen giving a lecture about the Dragon Rage Magikarp in this chapter.

She was offered a full-time job on the university by Prof. Matsumoto. However, she declined because of her Gym Leader duties.
