Card flip allows players to place bets on which card a player will flip over.  The deck has 24, each one with a number between 1 and 6 and a picture of one of four Pokémon (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Oddish, or Poliwag).  Bets can be placed by single card, by single column, by single row, by a pair of columns, or by a pair of rows. A two-column bet can only be made by pairing Pikachu and Jigglypuff or by pairing Oddish and Poliwag; a two-row bet can only be made by pairing an odd number and the next higher even number (1 and 2, 3 and 4, or 5 and 6). Winning a bet by space returns pays out 24 times the bet amount; by single number, 6 times; by single Pokémon, 4 times; by two numbers, 3 times; by two Pokémon, 2 times.
Bets can be placed in five different ways. Players may either bet on a single card, a single column, a single row, a pair of columns, or a pair of rows. When betting in pairs, limitations are placed. Betting in rows can only be made by pairing an odd number and the subsequent even number (i.e. 1 paired with 2, 3 paired with 4, 5 paired with 6). Betting in columns can only happen when either Pikachu and Jigglypuff or Oddish and Poliwag are paired.

A by-species or by-number bet, unlike in Roulette in Generation III, does not increase its payout if some of the possibilities are taken off the board. (So if there is only one Level 6 card left but all the other cards are still in play, the payout is still x6.)  The entire deck is reshuffled once all 24 cards have been dealt (12 cards have been drawn).
Appropriately, the lower the odds of winning are, the higher the payout will be. By betting only on a single card, the player will get 24 times the bet amount in return, given a win. By winning a bet on a single number the player will get six times the bet amount, by Pokémon four times, by two numbers three times, and by two Pokémon two times.

Unlike the Roulette game featured in Ruby, betting by species or number does not increase the payout if some possibilities are removed from the board.
Strategy
The player edge in the card-flip game if all bets are made on a single card is 34.55%, about 4% higher than in Roulette. It can be mathematically proven that there is no better system than placing all bets on a single card.
